Once you collected all the required items, go through the step by step process below in order to remove your sliding glass door:
  • Clear The Work Area: First of all, make the working space absolutely free by moving any furniture away from your sliding glass door. There should be nearly 10 feet of free space around your work area.
  • Prep The Floor: It is highly possible that your floor will get affected by chipping or cracks due to the heavyweight of the sliding glass door, so you need to protect your floor with the help of foam sheets or thick blankets. As a result of it, the door itself will also get protected as you set it down.
  • Remove The Screen Door: With the help of a flat-head screwdriver, thoroughly lift the rollers of the screen door from the bottom track. As soon as you remove the screen door, make sure to keep it at a safe place away from your work area.
  • Remove The Stationary Door: The stationary glass door is that portion of the glass door system which can not be moved and is mostly situated in the back of the sliding portion. If in case you want to remove the sliding portion from inside the house, then you first have to remove the stationary portion. With the help of a flat-head screwdriver, remove the threshold and unfasten the top, middle as well as the bottom brackets. With good care, lift the door up as far as it’s free from the tracks and then take the assistance of your friend in order to tilt it, to a small extent, to remove the door from the upper track. Place the stationary door down smoothly on a foam sheet.
  • Remove The Sliding Glass Door: At the base of the track, you will find a slight scratch that is intentional for easy removal. Make sure to slide the door unless & until it hits this point. Next, you need to eliminate the adjustment bolts by examining them on the side panels at the base of the door. Occasionally these bolts are covered in plugs that are particularly easy to remove. With the help of the Phillips screwdriver unfasten the adjustment bolts so that you can pull up the rollers. Now, you can lift the sliding glass door easily & freely from the frame and out of the track. Again with the help of the Philips screwdriver, get rid of the door from the track. As soon as you have removed the door, take the assistance from your friend in order to tilt it and move it out of the doorway. Finally, place it flat on a foam sheet smoothly.
