Easy Steps To Refurbish A Wooden Chair

Here are some of the easy steps given for refurbishing a wooden chair:
  1. Material Required: The material required for refurbishing a wooden chair includes primer, degreaser, wood filler, towel, tack cloth, staining sponge, plastic scraper, wax-based stripper, bristled paint brushes, sandpaper, sponge, stain, and sealer.
  2. Clean The Chair: Make a solution by combining the degreasing cleanser with warm water. Wet the sponge with the solution and clean the dirt and debris particles from the wooden chair surface.
  3. Dry The Chair: Next step is to dry the chair completely with the help of an old cotton T-shirt or linen towel.
  4. Repair Cuts And Scratches: Then repair the small cuts and scratches with the help of sandpaper. Use wood filler in the deep scratches and allow the wood filler to dry. Take sandpaper and make the surface smooth and apply primer stain on the scratch to match with the color of the chair.
  5. Apply Stripper: Take a bristle brush and apply wax stripper on the chair surface and leave the stripper on the wooden chair according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  6. Scrape The Chair: Now take a plastic scraper and remove the old finish and wax stripper from the wooden chair. If the old finish still exists on the chair then the customer can again use the wax stripper on the chair surface.
  7. Sand The Chair: Use 180-grit sandpaper to remove the remaining stripper and old stain from the chair. Then clean the sanding residue from the chair by using a tack cloth.
  8. Apply Stain: Then take a staining sponge and apply stain on the wooden chair along the direction of the grain. For applying the stain in the corners use a small sponge brush. Allow the stain to dry.
  9. Lightly Sand: Now use 220-grit sandpaper and smooth the finish. Clean the residue from the chair surface by using a tack cloth and apply another stain coat on the chair.
  10. Seal The Chair: Last step is to apply the coat of sealer on the chair and leave the chair to dry.
