How To Refinish Pressed Wood Furniture: Instructions For Refinishing Pressed Wood Furniture

Pressed wood, also known as a pressed particleboard, is generally made from leftover wood shavings, sawdust as well as small particles of wood, coated in a resin and pressed together in order to form "boards". It is a lightweight, low-cost wood alternative that will help absorb water more readily when compared to solid wood. Due to the reason that it can peel or lose its shape, the pressed wood material is usually covered & protected with a thin sheet of veneer or laminate which in turn will help hold things together. This surface usually has a slick finish that paint will not adhere to.

Step By Step Instructions For Refinishing Pressed Wood Furniture

Pressed wood furniture is a kind of furniture that is usually made up of particle board finished with a veneer in order to give it the appearance of solid wood. Due to the reason that the pressed wood furniture does not accept stains well, it is important to refinish it using enamel instead. Unfortunately, pressed wood is inappropriate & incompatible with adhesion that will reject a painted finish except if it is treated with primer beforehand. Make sure to choose the right type of primer, otherwise, you will ultimately end up with rampant flaking. You need to use the proper application tool, otherwise, you will see brushstrokes in the finish coat.
