Steps To Reface Or Refinish Cabinets

Refacing the laminated kitchen cabinets is a difficult task to do. Sometimes it takes too much time to reface the laminated kitchen cabinets. Some of the easy and quickest steps to reface or refinish the old and damaged laminated kitchen cabinets are given below which the user needs to follow carefully in order to achieve better result.
  1. Remove: First of all remove all the laminated kitchen cabinets from the wall. Use a screwdriver to easily remove the cabinets.
  2. Sanding: Sand the surface and the edges of laminated kitchen cabinets with small grit sandpaper without damaging the cabinets.
  3. Mix: Take the mild detergent solution and a half bucket of warm water and then dissolve well.
  4. Clean: Now take Sponge or microfiber cloth to clean the laminated kitchen cabinets. Dip the sponge or fiber cloth in the mixed solution and rub it gently on the cabinets.
  5. Primer: Apply at least 1-2 layer of bond primer on the surfaces of laminated kitchen cabinets with the help of a roller.
  6. Choose Paint: Now choose the best paint for the cabinets. Oil-based paint, semi-gloss, or satin finish paints are usually used in laminated kitchen cabinets.
  7. Paint: Paint 2-3 thin coats of selected paint with paintbrush. Each coat will take maximum 3-4 hours to dry.
  8. Dry: After painting the laminated kitchen cabinets let them dry for maximum of 15-20 hours directly in sunlight or under the fan air.
