What Are The Steps to Restore an Old Rocking Chair?

Here are some of the steps by which the customers can easily restore an Old Rocking Chair:

Chair Frame Restoration

1.Detach All The Screws: The customers need to start by removing all the aged screws that are affixing the cushion to the frame of the chair.
2.Clean The Chair: Once the customers remove all the screws from the frame of the chair they need to remove all the dust and the debris from the frame of the chair by using a soft damp cloth. The customers then need to allow the chair to dry completely.
3.Fill Up The Holes: Once the chair is dried completely the customers then need to examine their chair and if they find some holes then they need to fill up the holes by using the wood putty and then allow the putty to dry.
4.Use The Sandpaper: The customers then need to use the sandpaper and rub it vigorously all over the surface of the chair in order to attain the desired smooth finish. The customers then need to use the dry brush in order to wipe away all the dust and debris particles.
5.Apply The Primer: The customers then need to apply a layer of the wood primer to the entire surface of the rocking chair and then they need to allow the primer to dry completely.
6.Apply The Paint: Once the primer is dried completely the customers then need to apply a coat of paint to the rocking chair and then let it dry completely before applying two more coats of the paint.

Restore the chair Cushion

1.Remove All The Staples: The customers need to detach all the staples from the cushion by using the staple remover in order to remove the aged fabric from the seat accordingly.
2.Place The Seat Over The New Fabric: The customers then need to lay the seat over the new fabric in order to trim the fabric as per the seat arrangements. The customers are advised to leave excess fabric near about 3-4 inches on all sides.
3.Place The Fabric On A Flat Surface: The customers then need to place the trimmed fabric on a flat surface by arranging it towards its face side downwards and then they need to lay the chair seat over the fabric.
4.Staple The Fabric: The customers then need to Staple the fabric to the seat of the chair by using the staple gun. They then need to tightly pull up the fabric to each side of the seat and staple them at the centre.
5.Trim The Excess Fabric: Once the fabric is completely affixed to the seat cushion the customers then need to cut all the excess fabric by using the sharp-edged scissors.
6.Re-Attach The Seat: The customers then need to re-attach the seat cushion to the frame of the chair accordingly.
