Step By Step Process & Items Required To Put A Button Back On A Couch

If you have a couch but the buttons of your couch are damaged or removed and you need to refix it anyhow but you don't know how to do it, still, don't worry we are here to help you, simply collect the given items and follow the step by step process:

Things You Will Need

  • Scissors Or Seam Ripper
  • Soft Brush
  • Sudsy Water And Sponge
  • Fabric Adhesive
  • Small Piece Of Scrap Fabric
  • Cotton Swabs

Steps For This Process

Once you've collected all the required items, now you need to follow all the given steps to finish your work:
  • First of all, you need to remove the loose buttons from your soft couch with the help of a small pair of your scissors. For any tight spots, you need to use a seam ripper to remove your button. Now you need to cut any loose threads from the button & your sofa.
  • Now you need to brush around the area where you want to affix your button. Then you need to clean the area by using the sudsy water in order to remove any dirt & dust, which disrupt the bonding capability of the adhesive.
  • Review the back of your button that you will affix straight to your sofa. If your button is not made up of fabric then you need to cut a small piece of the scrap fabric to cover the backside of your button.
  • This piece of your fabric is a bonding agent to your sofa, same as the primer serves as a bonding agent for paint on your wall.
  • Now you need to place a dot of your fabric adhesive onto your fabric. Then you have to attach your fabric to the back of your button. Hold it together with the help of your fingers until the applied glue dries. It dries very speedily.
  • Next you need to apply a few dots of your fabric adhesive to the back of your button. Then you need to press your button into place on your sofa. Do not push your button into place too hard because the “super glue” is specially made to fuse fabric with another element to create a lasting & durable bond.
  • A useful tip for this process, simply you need to keep some cotton swabs nearby as you affix the button to your sofa so you can easily clean up any applied glue that may ooze from around your button.
