Methods To Polish Raw Wood

There are different methods for polishing raw wood. Some of the polishing methods for bare wood are mentioned below:

Burnishing

It is a polishing method done by hand that will give the high-gloss finish to the wood, in order to burnish the wood please follow the steps mentioned below:
  1. Denim: Cut the pieces from the old denim like 4 inches.
  2. Fold: After that fold the piece and then use it as a small pad and pour some penetrating oil on the denim piece, then start rubbing the wood vigorously, continue the rubbing for about 1 minute until the surface of the wood becomes warm.
  3. Rubbing: The rubbing will help the finish blend and lay down in the pores of the wood. After that check the wood if it is shiny then move on to another section.

Hand Rubbing

This polishing method is for a deep polishing look.
  1. Dampen: The first step is to dampen a piece of cloth in boiled linseed oil.
  2. Wipe: The next step is to wipe the area with the oil and let it soak and then wipe with another clean dry cloth.
  3. Palm: Now pour few drops of the oil on the palm and rub the wood, rub the area in small sections, not more than 3 inches, rub the oil at the regular intervals, Once in a week for 6 months.
