How To Paint Wooden Shutter Cabinets: Step By Step Procedure And Items Required

Step By Step Procedure And Items Required To Paint Wooden Shutter Cabinets

If in case the users are having the cabinets that are made up of the wooden shutters then painting down those cabinets can be a complicated task. The users need to prepare their cabinets perfectly and they also need to be assured that the paint and the primer should get into each fissure on both the sides of the cabinets. The users can easily paint their wooden shutter cabinets at home by gathering the below-mentioned materials and then following the below-described step by step procedure:

Materials Required

  • Sandpaper, Tack Rag & Paint Brushes
  • Primer And Paint

Procedure

  • Prepare The Surface Of Cabinets: The wooden shutter cabinets are usually very delicate to get painted randomly. If the cabinets are having the louver doors fixed then it will become tougher to paint the cabinets rather then having the portable type of doors. If the cabinet door is of the bare wood then they demand the good sanding so as to build up the good paint adhesion. The users need to use the fine-grit sandpaper so as to build up the barren bond base for applying the primer.
  • Clean Off The Dust: Once the users sanded down the louver doors of the shutter cabinets then they need to clean off all the sanding dust by using the tack rag. The users can also use the vacuum with the affixed brush so as to clean off the dust in between the louver doors while performing the sanding process.
  • Apply The Primer: The users are advised to use the small paintbrush for applying the primer to the small areas where the long brush cannot reach. The users can also choose the spray primer so as to provide balanced and smooth coverage. If the users still want to choose the brushes then they need to move the brush as per the wood grain. Most of the wooden shutters usually face in the downwards direction so that is why the users need to start priming the top sides of the door. The users are advised not to leave any gaps and they are also advised to prime the inner areas of the louver as well. Then allow the primer to get dried off completely.
  • Second Sanding: Once the primer is dried off completely the users are advised to gently sand down the primer layer by using the sandpaper. The users are advised not to take off all the primer layer from the wood, they just need to offer an ideal bond for the paint layer.
  • Apply The Paint Layer: The users are advised to follow the same technique while applying the paint layer. The users are advised not to overburden their brush and apply the paint in the uniform strokes and then allow the paint to get dried off completely before applying the second layer of the paint. If in case the users are using the semi-gloss paint then they are advised to light sand the first paint layer so as to make the bond for the final layer of paint.
