Procedure To Paint Mobile Home Kitchen Cabinets
Mobile Home Kitchen Cabinets are usually made of wood or laminate product. In order to give the mobile home kitchen cabinets an updated, pleasing, and cleaner look, the user needs to apply a new coat of paint to it by following the below-given steps:
- Remove Doors, Drawers & Hardware:
The first step will be to remove all the doors & drawers along with hardware from the mobile home kitchen cabinets by using a power drill or a screwdriver. - Clean The Cabinets:
After that, the user needs to clean the cabinets including doors & drawers. If the mobile home kitchen cabinets consist of laminate, the user needs to wipe them down with a clean rag dampened with mineral spirits. After mineral spirits wipe down, the user needs to wipe the laminate cabinets again with a clean rag dampened in a solution containing equal parts of ammonia & water. If the cabinets consist of wood, the user needs to sand them down with 1500 grit fine gauge sandpaper. Once sanded, the sanding dust should be wiped away with a clean paintbrush. - Apply Primer:
The laminate cabinets should be primed with a coat of bin primer. The primer coat will help the color to adhere well on to the laminate surfaces. The user can skip the step if the cabinets consist of wood. The wooden cabinets require a coat of primer if they have unsightly discolorations. - Apply Paint:
Once the primer dries, the user needs to apply a coat of oil-based paint to the laminate cabinets. The paint takes around 2 hours to dry, after which the user needs to apply a second coat of paint. In the case of wood cabinets, the user needs to apply the first coat of paint and wait for an hour before applying the second coat. After the second coat of paint, both laminate & wood cabinets should be allowed to dry overnight. - Reattach Doors, Drawers & Hardware:
The last step in the process will be to reattach doors, drawers, and hardware back to the cabinets by using a power drill or screwdriver.
