Procedure
- Detach The Shutters: Start by detaching the shutters from its frame and then place it in the well-ventilated area like the outside area or in the garage as well. The users are advised not to paint their shutters in the sunlight as it will make the paint get dried in an irregular way and they are also advised to cover their working ground area by using the plastic tarp or the old sheet as well.
- Detach The Old Paint: The users then need to detach any paint flakes by using the putty knife and then they need to apply the light layer of the paint stripper within the entire surface of the wood shutters. Then they need to allow the paint stripper to sit over the surface of the wood shutters for almost 30 minutes and then they need to scrape off the leftover pre-existing paint.

The synthetic shutters can be cleaned off easily by using warm water and mild soap. Then they need to rinse off the shutters completely so as to get rid of any leftover soap residue. - Select The Paint: The users can use the latex-built paint for the real wood shutters, the urethane resin paint for the vinyl shutters, and they can even use the spray paint for the even uniform layers.
- Apply The Paint: Before applying the paint to the wooden shutters the users need to apply the oil primer layer to it. The vinyl and the plastic shutters do not require the primer layer. Once the primer is dried off completely then the users need to apply the paint layer to the entire surface of the wood shutters and then allow the first paint coat to get dried off completely before applying the second coat.
