8 Steps To Paint Formica Cabinets Without Sanding

The Formica cabinets is regarded as the cheapest way to give a room a whole new look. It's very tricky to paint over Formica because it has a slippery surface due to which it's hard to stick paint on it. However, the steps to paint it without sanding are mentioned below:
  1. Clean: The first step is to remove any grime or dirt, the user can use the grease-cutting cleaner apply on the scrubbing sponge and gently scrub the area. It is very important to remove all the dirt and grime before going for the next step.
  2. Deglosser: Now the next step is to apply the Deglosser instead of the sanding, simply pour a small amount of the Deglosser on the cloth and then wipe the area in a small circular motions.
  3. Remove: Now remove all the doors and hardware, it is very important to label each door to its corresponding place, remove the hardware with the help of the power drill or screwdriver.
  4. Shelves: The next step is to remove all the shelves from inside and wipe the area as well.
  5. Paint: Start the paint on the back side of the cabinet doors with the paint roller apply the paint in a thin coat.
  6. Paint The Molding: Once the back side is completed then move to the front side, in case the doors have the trim then apply the paint to the trim with the help of the small paintbrush.
  7. Paint The Front Side: Now paint the Front Side with the help of the roller, once the first coat is completely dry then move to second coat.
  8. Paint The Wall Units: With the help of the same roller apply paint to the inside of cabinet units, outer edges, shelving as well as a center where the cabinet doors will meet.
