How To Paint An Interior PVC Window Sill: Proper Procedure Of Painting An Interior PVC Window Sill

Proper Procedure Of Painting An Interior PVC Window Sill

PVC, known as a polyvinyl chloride, is a kind of material that is generally used for pipes and fittings, & now a days it is frequently seen in trim applications due to the durability of the product. Insects will not be able to damage the plastic, and rot will never be a problem. It is not mandatory to prime an interior PVC window sill before you paint, due to the reason that paint sticks fast & better to PVC as compared to wood. In spite of the fact that the installation cost of PVC is higher as compared to wood, still there are many benefits of the product that may outweigh the cost. If you are looking to paint an interior PVC window sill, go through the below mentioned steps carefully:
  1. Fill Nail Holes & Sand The Window Sill: First of all, fill nail holes in the window sill with the help of epoxy filler, using your finger before letting the filler cure entirely. Sand the filler smooth using a fine-grit sanding pad. Sand the entire window sill gently using the fine-grit sanding pad in order to scrape or brush the surface for paint.
  2. Wash The Window Sill: Now, wash the window sill with the help of a degreasing cleaner in order to get rid of dirt and grease. Rinse the cleaner away using clean water before allowing it to dry entirely. Buff away residual residue with the help of a clean, lint-free cloth.
  3. Mask The Wall Using Painter's Tape: Next, place a drop cloth on the floor & cover the wall, adjacent to the trim, with painter's tape. Open the window in order to keep away from painting the window frame. Stir a can of acrylic latex paint when it comes to mixing the color pigments evenly. Put down a portion of the paint into a paint pail.
  4. Dip The Bristles Of A Paintbrush Into The Paint Pail: Soak the bristles of a 2-inch angled paintbrush into the paint pail. Load one of four equal parts of the bristles with paint. Tap the paintbrush on the sides of the paint pail in order to distribute the paint evenly across the bristles.
  5. Avoid Brush Marks: Now, trim in, or outline, the perimeter of the window sill with paint, with the help of the tapered edge of the paintbrush. Use long, smooth brush strokes before reloading the brush when the paint starts to drag. Don't force the paint to spread, due to the reason that it will leave brush marks.
  6. Apply Paint Over The Windowsill: Soak half the bristles of the paintbrush into the pail in order to load it with paint. Turn the brush on its side before laying the paint on the windowsill nearly 1 inch below the cut line. Apply the paint over the windowsill, making sure to cover the cut line. Continue to load and apply the paint as long as the window sill has been completed. Reload the brush when the paint starts to drag and don't brush back over drying areas. Let the paint dry for the time period recommended by the manufacturer. Put or spread a second coat of paint following the same procedure before allowing the second paint coat to dry completely.
