Methods To Paint A Rocking Chair Shabby Chic

Method 1

  1. Prepare: The first step is to prepare the chair that means to remove the existing finish if it has any. If the chair is polished with the wax then use the white spirit to clean it. In case of the varnish use the varnish remover.
  2. Primer: Now apply the primer that should be water-based acrylic, this will help to give the furniture a smoother finish and will make it easy to work on.
  3. Paint: Apply the two layers of paint, simply apply the thin layers of the water-based colored acrylic paint. Allow the first coat to dry and then sand the first layer with fine sandpaper then apply the second coat.
  4. Plain Painted Wood: In case the user wants plain painted Rocking Chair then it's done then seal the finish with the acrylic varnish. But for more Shabby Chic look, continue with the other method.

Method 2

  1. Paint: The first step is to paint the thin layer of the dark color over the rocking chair, the coat should be thin that the cracks or crevices of the original furniture underneath are visible. Allow the paint to dry completely which means there should no longer be tackiness to the touch.
