Another name of the linseed oil is flaxseed oil. The linseed oil is made by pressing the flax plant. The linseed oil is also used in glazing putty as it helps to make glazing putty dry and harder after applying it on the wall. The linseed also helps to give a bold and dashing look to the hardwood floor in just in short period of time. The linseed oil finish can easily get scratched but can also be repaired very easily.

Steps To Oil Hardwood Floors

Here are some easy ways to give a linseed oil finish to the hardwood floors. Just follow the given steps carefully:
  1. Vacuum: The first step is to clean the floor having dust particles or litters on it and for the purpose of cleaning use vacuum cleaner. Vacuum the floor carefully to clean out all of dust and litter to make a perfect surface for working.
  2. Sand: In order to sand the wood floor before start working, medium grit sandpaper will make the surface smooth.
  3. Mix: Take four parts of boiled linseed oil and mix it with one part of turpentine. Now heat the mixture and work in a well-ventilated area.
  4. Pour: Now pour the mixture of boiled linseed oil and turpentine and pour it on a hardwood floor and Cover the entire area with a thin layer of it and let the wood dry for half an hour.
  5. Wipe: Use soft cloths to wipe the hardwood floor before applying the main coat of linseed oil.
  6. Oiling: Now apply a second coat of linseed oil and rub the entire area of wood floor with a soft cloth.
  7. Dry: Let the wood floor dry for at least 2-3 days. Leave the fan and windows open for faster results of drying.
