Proper Procedure Of Making The Mosaic On Wood

Mosaics are actually the works of art that are created by using glass or ceramic tiles in order to make a picture. Mosaics can be used on wooden pieces, furniture, or ceilings, but they can also be found on the coffee table at your home. The proper procedure for making the mosaic on wood is shown below:
  1. Base: The first step is to have the wooden base to glue the mosaic tiles on. The user can make a mosaic on nearly any of the surface, only it should be strong to handle the weight of the mosaic pieces as well as the glue and grout. Tables tops is great options.
  2. Select The Material: The small pieces of material that are used in a mosaic art are usually known as tesserae. The pieces can be glass, stones, porcelain, or anything else.   3. Sketch The Design: Copy a mosaic design from any coloring book or the user can make their own simple sketch. It is important to remember if there is a detailed design, then the mosaic tiles must be smaller.
  4. Lay The Mosaic Pieces: Over the design lay the mosaic pieces before gluing them down. Simply place the mosaic pieces on the design and preview to check that how they will look before gluing them on. Also, make sure that the pieces are clean from any dirt or debris before gluing them.
  5. Choose The Right Adhesive: Traditional the mosaic adhesive is the cement-based mortar. But the user can also use the acrylic based adhesives, epoxy resins, or any of the construction adhesives.
  6. Mix And Spread The Adhesive: As per the manufacturer's instruction check the label whether there is a need to mix it before applying or not. The mortar is needed to be mixed beforehand, as will the epoxy resins. However, a tube of the acrylic adhesive is ready to use right away. Spread the adhesive on the wooden base with the help of a trowel or spatula. It is advisable to wear rubber gloves when handling the adhesives.
  7. Arrange The Mosaic Pieces: On top of the design arrange the mosaic pieces. Gently affix the mosaic tiles while the adhesive is still wet simply by pushing them on the adhesive. Make sure that the gaps between the pieces are about 1/8 inch or less. Leave the adhesive to set.
  8. Grout: After the above step is done then choose the grout. Prepare the grout properly as per the instruction of the manufacturer. Apply the grout with the help of a spatula before applying the grout lay newspaper down under the work surface and place the mosaic on it. Leave the grout to set and wipe away the excess. At last, apply a sealant over the mosaic to protect it.
