4 Easy Steps To Make Vinyl Plank Floors Shine

The vinyl plank floors come with a shiny look as well as in low gloss or matte finish. Over time, the shiny looked vinyl plank floors lose their wet look and become dull. There are several manufacturers who recommend specific products to clean & maintain the finish of vinyl plank floors. In order to make low gloss or dull looking vinyl plank floors shine, the user needs to follow the below-given steps:
  1. Select Finish:
    In order to create a high gloss shine, the user needs to select an acrylic product that contains polyurethane and the product should be suited to use on the vinyl plank floors. Alternate to polyurethane product, the user can select any commercial product that is used in office buildings or hospital stores.
  2. Clean The Flooring:
    The shining process begins with cleaning, in which the user needs to clean the entire flooring thoroughly in order to remove the debris & dirt that may embed in the finish. It has been recommended to use a vacuum, dustpan, broom, or mop for cleaning the dust & debris from the vinyl plank floors. In order to spills and stains, the user needs to run a light wet mop over the area. Apart from that, in order to remove ground in dirt, the user needs to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush.
  3. Remove Old Finish:
    The next step will be to remove the old finish from the vinyl flooring for which the user needs to apply a thin coat stripping product over the entire surface. It has been recommended to use such product that will be suited to the vinyl plank floors and let the stripper sit on the floor as per label instructions. The user needs to scrub off the tough finish with a stripping pad containing a rotary scrubber attachment. The sludge material created by the process should be removed and the flooring should be rinsed with clean water afterward. At last, let the flooring dry completely.
  4. Apply New Finish:
    After that, the user needs to apply a new finish on to the entire vinyl plank floor by using a sponge mop. It has been recommended to apply a new finish from one side of the room to the other in light even strokes. The room should be kept at 65 degrees Fahrenheit for least 48 hours in order to let the new finish dry & cure. If required, the user can apply a second coat of finish as well. The user need not to wash the flooring for up to 5 days in order to allow the new finish cure and bond well.
