Step By Step Procedure & Items Required To Make The Roman Shades

Usually, like any other standard blinds and the curtains, the roman shades can also make the gentle flowing outline and will only allow the wanted light amount in the room. Apart from being the contemporary and the classic, the roman shades do not consist of any kind of special hardware and thus make it extremely easy to set it up. The users can easily make their own roman shades at home by gathering the required items & following the below-mentioned steps:

Materials Required

  • Two-Layered Fabric, 1x1 Board, Roman Shade Tap
  • Screw Eye Bolts, Cording, Batten Strips, Fabric Glue
  • Sewing Machine, Matching Thread, Hand Sewing Needle
  • Staple Gun, And Velcro Tape

Procedure

  • Trim The Wood Board: The users need to trim the 1x1 sized board and it needs to get with the inner window opening top. Then screw down the trimmed board with the frame of the window. The users cannot inner-affix on the french doors.
  • Choose The Fabric: Next they need to choose their fabric and the lining material as well. As the users can easily make them with the light-weighted items and in that case, the decorator weight will be perfect. The decorator weight is quite heavy then the tablecloth weight.
  • Trim The Fabric: Then trim down the fabric and add one inch in the height and the width of the opening size of the window. The excess material is for the allowance of the seam. The users are advised to trim the exterior fabric a bit wider which means it can wrap on the sides as the margin at the shade back.
  • Pin Down The Fabric: Now pin down both the fabric layers with one another and the users need to be assured that the printed fabric sides will be facing and if desired the users can sew the tape of the fabric with the fabric lining in order to craft the channels for interrupting the battens than gluing it.
  • Sew The Fabric: Then sew close to the perimeter and leave the few inches open so as to turn the fabric towards its right side outwards when the users finish up the process. Then trim off the seam portion near to the edges so that it can cleanly rotate and will not clump up at the edges. If in case the exterior fabric is quite wide in order to make the margin at the back then the users need to sew together the sides. Then hem down the base with the hand and then use the iron over the tape at the uppermost side where it won't be visible.
  • Turn The Fabric: Next they need to swivel the right-sided of the fabric outwards and then iron down it evenly. The users are advised to take uttermost care while they iron down the fabric.
  • Sew The Opening: Then slip sew the opening unbound and sew the velcro strip on the uppermost material corner. This can be used to affix the fabric with the wood.
  • Calculate And Mark Lines: Then calculate and mark down the lines in a horizontal manner and the users are advised to make the marks at those points where they want their pleats to fall down. The users then affix the stiffening strips on their fabric near to the marks of the pleat. Most of the shade-makers untangle the sides seam and then drift the battens within layers so as to hide it.
  • Let The Glue Dry: After that, allow the glue to get dried off completely and this would take near about twenty minutes. If desired the users can also stitch the pockets for the batting to drift within by simply sewing the lines of the parallel way on the shade with the marks of the pleat.
  • Stitch The Loops: Then they need to stitch the loops of the plastic with the battens and then evenly space them in the 2 vertical lines. Usually, most of the fabric stores sell the cotton tape with the loops of the plastic that are already affixed for mainly this aim and the users then need to fasten the loops tight with the shade.
  • Trim The Cord: Calculate and then trim the 2 cord and the users need to double the window height in the length. Then fastly tie up the cords with the base loop on the horizontal loop lines. Then thread down the cord within the loops and then insert the bolt to the trimmed wood board at the point where the lines come in contact with it. Affix the shade top with the trimmed board by using the staples or the velcro tape.
  • Thread Down The Cord: Finally thread down the cord within the bolt and keep the fabric flat and then run the cords within their screws at the uppermost side. The users require to run all the cords within the eyes so as to bring all of them to the one side for the lowering and the raising purpose of the shade. Then knot all the cords with one another and if desired the users can press it with the iron and then gently pull the cord accordingly. The users are advised to keep their lines neat and tidy.
