How To Make Roman Shades From Mini Blinds: Step By Step Instructions Of Making Roman Shades

Step By Step Instructions Of Making The Roman Shades From Mini Blinds

Buying the new set of the roman shades can be costly, however, the alternative is simply to make the roman shades from the mini blinds. In order to make roman shades from mini blinds, go through the step by step instructions mentioned below:

Step 1: Measurement

With the help of the measurement tape, first of all, the user needs to know the existing length of the windows and also make sure to add an extra inch in the measurement at the bottom as this will help the new roman shades to be able to cover up the whole window. The next thing the user needs to do is to decide the number of folds that the shades will have. Usually, roman shades have 3 or 4 folds but it totally depends on the personal preference as well as the size of windows. After deciding the number of the folds, measure out the entire length of the window that is measured, and then simply divide it with the number of folds, the reason for this is that it will help to find out actually space for folds from one another. For instance 4’ window/4 this means folds=1’ apart from each other. Also, calculating the number of the folds will help to know number slats to leave on the blinds.

Step 2: Remove The Extra Slates

Hopefully, the size of the blinds that are original one is well suited for the window properly. After that, remove all of them from the window, place the blinds on the flat ground but keep the face-down. From the backside of the blinds, there will be a horizontal string that is used for holding the slats, remember not the one that is vertical lift cord. With the help of the scissors, carefully cut out all these strings and also remove out the plugs of plastic exactly at the bottom bar. After removing the bar, place it aside as well as carefully pull off all the remaining slats, but only leave the necessary slats used for the folds, leave out one of the slat exactly at the spot, where the user with the fold to start. After the slats are removed, then simply refix the bar of the bottom at the vertical cord and also remove the excess cords.

Step 3: Fabric Time

Position the fabric but keep the face of the fabric down on the flat floor and then place the blinds & also keep the face down over the top of the fabric. It is important to ensure that all the fabric is fully wrinkle-free as there must be no wrinkle and also all the remaining blinds are placed out at the even space that depends on the total number of the folds. On the fabric center, place the blinds and then cut all the extra fabric but while cutting leave 2” inch border from around the blinds.

Step 4: Glue

Now that all the blinds are properly centered, evenly spaced as well as are wrinkle-free, then it is time to glue down the fabric on the spot. Start the process by simply folding all the fabric, that is extra, on the top of the slat and then glue it on the place with the help of the fabric glue. Next, secure all the remaining slats on the front side with the fabric at the space as per the choice. Then fix down the rest of the fabric on all along the sides on the slats, it is important to be very careful not to apply the glue on the vertical lift cord. At last, glue at the bottom of the fabric all around the base bar. Leave the glue as it is to dry completely before heading to the next step.

Step 5: Hanging

After the glue has completely dried, rehang the shades in the procedure as for the blinds. When attaching, pull up the vertical cord to draw the newly made roman shades up. The bottom of the folds must happen exactly where the user left the slats.
