Proper Procedure Of Making Mirror-Front Kitchen Cabinets

Making your mirror-front cabinets stylish will result in the cabinets look attractive as well as can update your kitchen in several satisfying ways. They will make the kitchen look bigger and more graceful and stylish as well as increase the amount of perceived light in the room. Some of the people use mirror tiles in order to accomplish this, however, they can be on the delicate side, have plenty of seams as well as are hard to cut and work with. Single-strength mirror is considered the best option. Generally, only the doors get the tiles, the narrow face frames forming an edge along or beside the cabinets don't provide themselves to small mirrors due to breakage. Go through the below-mentioned steps carefully when it comes to making mirror-front kitchen cabinets:
  1. Remove The Doors From The Cabinet: First of all, pull out the doors from the cabinets with the help of a drill/driver. Position one door at a time along two sawhorses. When it comes to shaker-style or inset panel doors, then skip Steps 2 & 3, due to the reason that this type of door has the necessary frame around it already.
  2. Measure & Cut 4 Pieces Of Matching Plywood: Now, take the measurement and cut four pieces of 1/2-by-2-by-32-inch matching hardwood in order to fit around the perimeter of the door. Use a miter saw in order to cut the sides to length, with the short pieces cut to fit betwixt the side pieces flush at the top as well as bottom.
  3. Sand Using 100-grit Sandpaper: Sand them smooth by hand using 100-grit sandpaper before getting rid of the dust with the help of a tack cloth. Add matching stain as well as a clear finish to three sides of each strip of wood. Leave the side that will secure or affix to the door unfinished.
  4. Apply Glue & Nail The Pieces: Apply glue as well as nail the pieces around the perimeter of the door with the help of a pin nailer and 1-inch pin nails in order to create a frame. Fill the nail holes using a matching putty crayon, getting rid of any crayon residue with the help of a soft cloth. Perform the same process for all the doors.
  5. Hang The Doors On The Cabinet: Calculate or compute the inside dimensions of the frames. Order single-strength, 1/8-inch-thick mirror to the taken calculations. Put or spread silicone glue to the inside of each frame. Press the mirrors into the frames using your fingers. Place a heavy object or objects, which may include books, inside the frame on top of the mirror in order to hold it firmly in place and let the glue dry overnight. Finally, hang the doors on the cabinets.
