Finishing Concrete Floors To Make Them Look Like A Marble

If you are looking to make your concrete floor look like marble, then one of the best ways to do this is to finish a concrete floor which will give it the appearance of a more expensive stone, without any difficulty that having marble floors entails. Concrete floors generally provide stability in comparison to other floors, and all you need to do when it comes to taking care of the painted concrete floor is an occasional sweeping as well as mopping. Before you begin, you need to select several colors of paint that complement as well as contrast one another. In order to finish your concrete floors to make them look like marble, go through the below-mentioned steps carefully:
  1. Sweep The Concrete Floor: First of all, sweep the concrete, in a thorough manner, in order to clean the floor. Paint the floor with the help of a concrete primer using a paint roller, ensuring that the primer covers the floor completely. Allow the primer to dry entirely, in accordance with the manufacturer's directions. Drying time can be different that vary from brand to brand.
  2. Paint The Entire Floor: Now, with the help of a paint roller, paint the entire floor using the base color you select. Allow the base coat to dry in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
  3. Apply Two Colors To The Floor: Next, select a complementary color to your base coat. Kneel on the floor with the base coat as well as the second color nearby. With the help of paintbrushes, spread the two colors to the floor in unequal amounts. Combine or put together the two colors as long as they blend but still have distinct streaks and splotches. Make sure not to allow the paint to dry completely.
  4. Apply Third Color: Now, spread a third color, different from the two colors that you applied, but complementary to them, by dappling it on with the help of a natural sponge before the paint you have already applied is dry. Dappling is achieved by dabbing small amounts of paint firmly & smoothly on the floor.
  5. Apply Fourth Color Of Paint: With the help of a fine paintbrush, apply a fourth color of paint that differ strikingly with the rest in thin veins over the still-wet paint. Before the veins dry, use the flared paintbrush in order to brush back and forth through the veins, which in turn gives them a feathered look. Allow at least 24 hours for the marbled effect that you have achieved to dry completely.
  6. Apply A Coat Of Polyurethane: Finally, apply a coat of polyurethane with the help of a high-quality paintbrush before allowing it to dry in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. Apply a second layer of polyurethane on the floor before allowing it to dry. As soon as it is dry, your floor will have the appearance of highly polished marble.
