Items Needed For This Process

  • Square Dowel Rod & Pencil
  • Straightedge & Eyelet Hooks
  • Graph Paper & Markers
  • Nail(Optional) & Nylon String Or Fishing Line
  • Scissors & Crimping Beads
  • Pliers & Beads

Steps For This Process

  1. First of all, you need to measure the inside width & the length of your doorway. Then you need to cut your dowel rod according to this width plus 4 inches. After that, measure in from each side 2 inches & mark this with your pencil. In betwixt these 2 points, mark your location of each eyelet hook with your pencil & a ruler. Count the marks to regulate how many rows of beads you will need.
  2. Now you need to create a scaled drawing on a piece of your graph paper based on your measurements by using one row per strand of beads. Then you need to outline the colors & the bead arrangement on this with your pencils and a marker. Number each row for easy allusion. If you are going for a more disorganized effect or by using only a handful of the colors & a diagram may not be indispensable.
  3. Next you have to screw an eyelet hook into each mark on your dowel rod. Most of the eyelet screws are self-tapping, nonetheless, if you've had issues getting it in, nick the mark on your dowel rod with a nail in order to create a starting point.
  4. After that, you need to cut nylon string or fishing wire to near about 12 inches longer than you want the finished curtain to be. Tie the strings to the eyelet hooks firmly & then string a crimping bead up each so that it goes over the extra line & hits right below the knot. You need to clamp with the pliers to secure.
  5. Independent your beads by color in various dishes & position your dowel rod on a large work surface. Place your diagram in an easy-to-see spot if indispensable.
  6. Next, string your beads onto the nylon per your diagram or in an arrangement of your choosing. Some people prefer to work with 1 string at a time, while the others will get better results while working from left to right.
  7. Tie off the end of each string firmly & then push the extra string back through your beads, cutting away any extra.
  8. Finally, you need to hang your dowel rod to your door frame by either precisely nailing or screwing it to your frame, or by installing the small curtain rod hooks on either side to hold your rod.
