Different Ways To Make Barbie Furniture Out Of Cardboard
Cardboard is a material that is ready to use for the construction of Barbie furniture. Cardboards cut from larger boxes are mostly used to construct furniture for larger dolls such as Barbie. It is necessary to clean and remove staples from cardboard pieces before using them to make Barbie furniture. The ways to make different types of Barbie furniture products out of cardboard are as follows:
Make A Bed
The steps to make a Barbie bed are as follows;
- Cut Mattress Support:
First, the user needs to cut a large cardboard piece to which a Barbie doll lays over comfortably. The piece will be used as a mattress support.- Cut Headboard & Footboard:
After that, the user needs to cut the two rectangular pieces of cardboard that should be used as headboard & footboard. It has been recommended to cut the pieces slightly larger in width compared to the already cut mattress support. If desired, the user can round the upper corners of both footboard & headboard as well.- Use Decorative Paper:
The next step will be to decorate headboard & footboard. First, the user needs to lay headboard over a decorative or colored paper & trace it down at two places. Once traced, cut the pieces and attach them properly to the front & back of the headboard by using double-sided tape. Similarly, the footboard should be decorated as well.- Assemble:
After that, the user needs to glue mattress support ends one by one to the headboard & footboard. It has been recommended to attach mattress support minimum 1 inch above the bottom edge of both headboard & footboard.- Finishing Touch:
The last step will be to lay a blanket and pillows over the prepared bed. The blanket & pillows can be made out of fabric scraps. Alternatively, cotton balls can be used as pillows & colored facial tissues can be used as a blanket.
Make A Sofa:
The steps to make a Barbie sofa are as follows;
- Prepare Sofa Seat & Back:
First, the user needs to get two similar-sized cardboard boxes in a rectangular shape considering one box as a sofa seat and the other box as a sofa back. If the user is unable to get cardboard boxes in the right size for the dolls, he can cut cardboard pieces in size he wants and attach them together with a tape to form sofa seat & back.- Wrap The Boxes:
After that, the user needs to wrap both the boxes separately by using a fabric scrap or a colored/decorative paper. It has been recommended to wrap boxes similar to gift wrapping.- Attach Boxes:
The next step will be to attach both boxes to form a sofa. First, the user needs to lay one box over the floor and turn another box on its side before placing it behind the first one to form a sofa shape. It has been recommended to attach both the boxes in similar shape using two-sided tape or glue. Alternatively, the user can attach the boxes with a regular tape that should wrap around the sofa back.- Attach Armrests (Optional):
At last, the user needs to cut small cardboard pieces that are similar to seat box width and will be used as armrests. The armrests must be covered with a matching fabric scrap or paper used earlier before attaching it to the prepared sofa with tape or glue.
