Easy Steps To Make/Build Bamboo Chair
Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant in the world, however, it is less used for making the furniture but bamboo furniture looks awesome. If you also want to build a piece of bamboo furniture yourself then you just need to read and follow all the given steps. Here are the steps to make bamboo furniture:
- First of all, you need to mark the center of each of crossbar and then you need to drill the two holes at 12.5 cm right & left from the center. Each hole should have a diameter of 7cm and 25cm total betwixt them. Next, you need to drill a single hole in every frame rail at 33 cm from the end of your bamboo pole. The diameter of the hole should be 5 cm.
- Now you need to place your frame rails of the bamboo chair into the crossbars to become a closed frame. You need to draw a line on one of your crossbars that connects the outside of your frame rails and then you need to mark the center.
- Next you need to drill a single hole in your crossbar of 5cm of diameter. The hole must be drilled to touch the heretofore marked line but not through the line. Next, you need to place your center support in a workbench or in a miter box and then you need to cut the end of your bamboo pole at a 30-degree angle.
- The next thing is to drill a hole of at least 5cm of diameter through with both sides of your center support. The center of hole should be 19 cm from the end of your bamboo pole.
- Next you need to rotate your center support 90 degrees and then drill another hole of 5 cm diameter at a distance of at least 7.5 cm from the near end.
- Now you need to cut your bamboo pole lengthwise into 8 parts. Each of the parts must be thinned to form dowels for 20cm long and also 1.5cm in diameter at 1 end & 4mm at the other end.
- Next, you need to insert your bamboo cane through all the side holes of your center support. Now you need to place all the side frame rails and then you have to finish by mounting your crossbars over the frame rails.
- Next you need to make six aperture of relatively 8mm diameter which cross the junctions. Now you need to drill the perforations towards the junctions but not in the center of your bamboo canes because this will make all the joints much stronger.
- Now, all the dowels are struck with the mallet until the dowels come out at the other end of the aperture. Once all the dowels are inserted properly then you need to cut extra dowels. You just need to use a drop of wood glue.
- Next you need to place your bamboo cane and then drill aperture for your dowels. The first aperture is made vertically betwixt your bamboo cane and the crossbar. The second aperture is made horizontally betwixt bamboo cane and your center support.
- Finally simply strike all the dowels with the help of mallet until the dowel come out at the other end of your aperture and cut off the extra dowel. The seat for this chair is also made from wood with a thickness of 5 cm and a diameter of 30 cm.
