  • Foam, Spray Adhesive, Batting
  • Button-Cover Kit, Buttons, Upholstery Fabric
  • Upholstery Twine

Procedure

  • Trim The Boards: Start by trimming one piece of the 48x66x1/2-inch plywood sheet so as to build the base, Two pieces of the 2x4x66-inches board to build the base and frame top, Two pieces of the 2x4x44 inches board so as to build the frame sides, Two pieces of the 2x8x60 inches board so as to build the wings of the headboard and two pieces of the 2x8x12 inches board to build the leg support for the headboard.
  • Craft The Frame: Then make the durable base, strengthen the sheet of the plywood by using the 2x4 sized frame. The users need to flip the sheet of the plywood in a way that the backside of the plywood will face upwards. The backside of the plywood is usually rougher in surface and is having little glossy surface than the front sided plywood sheet. The users are covering up the fabric front and if they pick up the wrong sided plywood sheet then it won't be the big deal to them. Then they need to place the 2x4 sized plywood sheet adjacent to the longer plywood sheet sides. Lay the 2x4 sized sheet perpendicular to each of its sides. The 2x4 sized trimmed pieces will now frame down the outer plywood sheet corners. The users need to be assured that all of their pieces are perfectly positioned and they need to screw them down by using the screws.
  • Affix The Legs And Wings: For the extra support and the style, add both of the legs and the wings to the headboard. In order to affix the wings, the users need to position the 2x8 inch sized board parallel to the 44inch frame sides. They need to be assured that each one of the board pieces is flushed to the plywood top and then fasten them by using the screws. In order to affix the legs, they need to affix the 2x8 inch sized board to the 2x8 inch sized beneath the plywood. Then they need to position the wood pieces that it will form the right angle and then fasten them by using the screws respectively.
  • Affix The Chipboard: In order to create the twisted headboard corners, the users need to trim the chipboard. They can easily purchase the chipboard at their nearby home stores or at any online store. The users can also purchase the pre-trimmed chipboard and then staple the exterior corners of one chipboard piece adjacent to the inner corners to the 1st wing. Then they need to twist the chipboard and then staple down another plywood corner. The users need to repeat the procedure until the entire wing length is aligned with the twisted chipboard pieces and repeat the same procedure to the other side as well.
  • Drill The Holes: Calculate and then mark down the wanted placement of the hole for the tufting purpose. The users can select the grid or the diamond pattern and the total tufts number will be up to the user so as to be assured that all of the holes are evenly spaced within one another. The users need to use the pencil and then draw the grid pattern at the plywood back and once their pattern is in the exact place they need to drill off the holes within the plywood and they need to be assured that they are having the raised headboard so that they can drill without damaging the surface.
  • Affix The Foam: Trim the foam so that it will easily fit the top of the headboard along with the wings and the outer legs as well. Then affix the foam by using the spray adhesive and within the back, they need to poke the needle to the holes and then mark down that area by using the marker. Then trim each of the tufting holes by using the scissors.
  • Affix The Batting: Then wrap down the foam in the batting layer by using the spray adhesive and then affix the other batting layer. Then they need to tightly lift the layers and then affix it with the frame by using the staples. After that, trim the unneeded batting by using the sharp scissors and then find out the tuft hole position by using the needle and then poke it by using the scissors.
  • Affix The Buttons: Use the button kit so as to cover up the buttons to the fabric of the headboard. Then place the upholstery fabric over the entire surface of the headboard and to the wings as well with extra 10 inches fabric to the sides. Then start tufting the central hole and push down the needle with the headboard back to front and then tightly pull the button in the place and repeat the same procedure while tufting the rest of the buttons.
  • Secure The Fabric: Finally the users need to staple down the unneeded fabric at the headboard back. In order to cover up the legs, they need to add the fabric panel to each of the legs by folding up the top corner beneath so as to form the straight seam. Then cut the unneeded fabric accordingly.
