If there is a tree that needs to cut down or even a tree stump that is from a fallen tree, it can be turned into the base of an outdoor table. In order to make a tree stump table for the outside purpose, go through the method mentioned below:
  • Find A Stump: The first step is to find a suitable stump and then peel off all the bark. The user can find the stump from the firewood. Look for the stump which should be even. Use a flat-tip screwdriver to peel off all the bark. This is the easy way for removing the bark.
  • Cleaning: The next step is to Clean up the stump. Once all of the bark is removed then start the cleaning process. Most of the times the stump will have some mold growth due to some of the moisture. In order to kill the mold growth make a solution of bleach and water mix at a 1:3 ratio and wipe off the stump to kill everything that is living on this stump.
  • Drying: Once the cleaning is done then let the stump to dry completely. In order to speed up the drying process use the dehumidifier. There will be some of the stains at the spots from where molds were growing but mold itself is killed. Once the stump is dried out completely, it will lose a few pounds of weight.
  • Sanding: After the stump is completely dried than its time to go for the sanding as well as staining the stump. Sand the stump with medium-grit sandpaper properly as this will help to make any rough spots smooth once sanding is done than polish any of rough spots with the help of 220-grit sandpaper. For the stain, the user can keep it looking natural and can also use a light or dark stain. Staining the stump is a simple process same as staining any other piece of wood.
  • Finish It Off: To finish the job, give the stumps two generous coats of stain like Polyurethane in Semigloss. But it is important to make sure to sand lightly in between the coats.
  • Choose A Tabletop: The user can use the two 24-inch pre-cut, pine rounds for the larger table. These are easily available at any home improvement store. For a natural look don't paint the tabletop, the user should use cedar, teak or redwood as a tabletops.
  • Attach The Tabletop To The Stump: Drill the pilot holes on the tabletop and use a large galvanized wood screws. To level the tops use the shims or wood wedges. The user needs to make sure to drive screws completely through the tops.
