How To Make A Sliding Door Slide Easier: Easy Ways & Items Required

Easy Ways & Items Required To Make A Sliding Door Slide Easier

Lubricating the sliding doors is one of the easiest ways to make the door slide smoothly and gently as well. The sliding door usually depends upon the topmost track and the base track and with the rollers as well that helps in keeping the door in its correct position by making it slide gently in the back and forth motion. If in case the track of the sliding door consists of the grime and the dirt particles or the roller of the sliding doors are damaged then the lubrication won’t fix the sliding door problem. The users can only lubricate the door when all the elements are properly fixed and cleaned as well. The users can easily lubricate the sliding door at home by gathering the below-mentioned materials and then following the below-described ways:

Materials Required

  • Vacuum, Toothbrush & Rag
  • Petroleum-Build Spray Lubricant
  • Silicone-Build Spray Lubricant
  • Screwdriver

Way 1: Clean The Door Tracks

Before applying the lubricating oil the users need to start by cleaning up the upper and the lower sided door tracks. Use the vacuum so as to clean up the hair, stones, and the dead insects that might have blocked the door tracks. They can also use the toothbrush for smashing up the dirt and dust clumps before the users vacuum it down. Once the users vacuumed up the door tracks then they need to pour some lubricant over the soft rag and then clean up the upper and the lower door tracks. They are advised to use the petroleum-build lubricant that can easily detach any dirt and the deposition of the oil quickly than the water and the soap mixture.

Way 2: Examine The Rollers

If suitable the users can also examine and balance the rollers. If in case the sliding door goes bump when it is closed and enclosed then there will be a possibility that the base wheels of the roller are broken. The users need to replace those broken wheels and then after that, they can easily lubricate the sliding doors. If the sliding door crumbles at its base track when the users detach it then the door rollers should be adjusted below by which it can easily lift up the door. In order to attain this step, the users need to swivel the screws that are present at the door base in between the rails of the track. They need to rotate the screw in the clockwise direction and it will lower the roller wheel and will eventually make the door get raised accordingly. By rotating the screws in the counter-clockwise motion will make the wheel lower and will also bring down the door. Detaching the screw completely from the base track will help the users to detach the wheel for the replacement process.

Way 3: Apply The Lubricating Material

The users can also apply the lubricating material over the door tracks and the wheels as well but they are advised not to clean it. The petroleum-build lubricating material will act exceptionally but this will also draw the attention to the dirt and the debris particles. The silicone-build material will be very satisfactory to get used as they do not attract any debris or dirt particles. If the users are regularly cleaning up the sliding doors then they are advised to use only petroleum-build lubricating material and if they often clean up their sliding doors then they should go with the silicone -build lubricating material.
