Steps To Install Sheet Vinyl Flooring In A Kitchen

Sheet vinyl flooring is installed to cover the floor of the kitchen and bathroom. This type of flooring is not as costly as compared to other floorings. These floor sheets can be applied on to the plywood subfloor directly. The material needed for installation includes Hammer, Flat pry bar, Utility knife, Floor roller, Framing square, Vinyl adhesive, Masking tape, Scissors, and Notched trowel. The steps are mentioned below to install the sheet vinyl flooring in the kitchen:
  1. Prepare The Kitchen: The first step is to prepare the kitchen by removing the furniture and appliances.
  2. Tap Baseboards: Take a flat pry bar and tap it beyond the baseboard by using a hammer and softly pry the trim.
  3. Roll Kraft Paper On Floor: Now the next step is to roll the kraft paper on the floor surface. Fix the kraft paper on the kitchen floor with the help of masking tape and use a scissor to cut the kraft paper at the end of the floor. Likewise, roll another strip of kraft paper on the floor and continue the process until the entire floor gets covered with the kraft paper.
  4. Roll Out Vinyl Sheet: Now the next step is to spread the vinyl sheet in the larger area and take away the template of kraft paper and place on the vinyl sheet and then tape with the flooring.
  5. Cut Flooring: Take a scrap plywood piece and put it under the flooring and cut the flooring with the help of utility knife.
  6. Carry Flooring To Kitchen: Roll and take the flooring to kitchen and lay on the kitchen floor without using the adhesive and make adjustments along the edges with a putty knife and fit the flooring.
  7. Roll Half Flooring: Roll half flooring and take a notched trowel to scatter the adhesive on half of the subfloor. Then lay flooring back to its position and press adhesive.
  8. Roll Second Half: Scatter the adhesive on the other half of the subfloor using a notched trowel and press the vinyl flooring.
  9. Roll Entire Floor: Take a floor roller and roll on the whole vinyl flooring to remove imperfection.
