How To Lay Linoleum Without Glue: Simple Procedure

Simple Procedure To Lay Linoleum Without Glue

In order to lay Lay Linoleum Without Glue, the user needs to follow the simple procedure mentioned below:
  1. Level And Flat: Before installing the linoleum, the floor should be flat by filling any low spot and sanding away the high spots.
  2. Another Option: The other option for the flat subfloor is to install the plywood underlayment for the subfloor, besides that the user can also use the backer board or any other underlayment product. But before using the underlayment make sure that there is enough room to accommodate its height as it raises the level of the floor.
  3. Measure: The next important step is to carefully measure the Linoleum and cut the sheet. There is no room for error because the sheet is installed in one piece to be very careful while cutting the obstacles like cabinets or toilets.
  4. Template: The best way to cut the Linoleum is to make a template first of the obstacles areas. Use the newspaper pages or roofing felt for the template. Once the template is cut then lay it over the Linoleum and cut accordingly.
  5. Installation Gap: It is very important to leave the installation gap around the edges of about 1/4 inch.
  6. Enroll: Before installing the linoleum it is very important to enroll it and leave in the room for at least 2 days. This will help the Linoleum to adjust with the environment of the room which in turn will help to prevent the warping and buckling after the installation.
  7. Stapling The Linoleum: The more permanent solution other than gluing is to simply staple the linoleum sheet to the plywood or particle board floors.
  8. Staple Gun: Use the staple gun with the floor staples, to hold the floor securely in place. In order to hide the staples use the baseboard and shoe molding.
  9. Silicone Caulk: In case the user is laying Linoleum sheets in the bathroom then use the silicone caulk over the expansion joints and staples to create a water-resistant barrier.
