How To Keep Glass Table Top From Sliding: Step By Step Way Of Preventing Glass Table Top From Sliding

Step By Step Way Of Preventing Glass Table Top From Sliding

Glass tabletops have an attractive and modern appeal that is suited for everything ranging from coffee tables to the dining tables. It depends on the design of the table, that the glass top will slip out of place, which can be dangerous in some of the cases. The best and easy step by step way to prevent the glass table from sliding is as follows:
  1. Put on the gloves and then carefully lift up the glass from its supports. Keep it upside down direction in a safe place while working.
  2. Spray the glass cleaner on a rag and after that use it to carefully wipe down the bottom of the glass tabletop. It is advisable to focus on the edges as well as corners of the glass exactly at the point where it touches the supports or at the top of the table, after that dry the glass with the help of a lint-free cloth.
  3. Once the above step is done then the user needs to add a small amount of the rubbing alcohol on to a rag and after that use it to wipe down the top of the table or the glass supports. The reason for using the alcohol is that it helps to cut grease as well as the grime to make sure that the glass bumpers will also adhere to the surface of the table. Wipe the glass supports with the help of a clean rag until they are completely dry.
  4. Peel-off the paper from the back of rubber bumper pads. Carefully press the pad right at the top of the table on one corner or at the top of the support at the point where the edge of the glass will rest. Press down the pad firmly so that it will set in place. Repeat the same process to install pads on all the corners of the table or on all the glass supports.
  5. Finally, carefully pick up the glass. Flip it right-side-up and position it on the table in a way so that it will rest on the rubber pads.

Important Tips

  • Round pads are very easier to align than the square ones. Also stick to clear pads, that are less exposed through the glass than the colored ones. The user can also try the clear strips of the silicone roll products instead of the individual pads as this will help to maximize the performance and also minimize the chance that the glass top will slide.
  • Installing the roll products on along each of the edges of the glass also helps to prevent dust as well as crumbs from building up in the grooves or below the glass as well. If the user can not find these types of bumpers at the store, then pick up a tube of the clear silicone sealant, not the caulk. Apply a thin bead of the sealant between the glass as well as on the supports to prevent sliding.
