Step 1: Gather Your Materials

  • The vinyl railing must be purchased and ought to come in a kit. The majority of railings will come fully assembled, with everything from the posts and spindles to the brackets and screws. In addition to all of these materials, you'll probably need a level, a drill, a saw, and a screwdriver.

Step 2: Find Your Railing Section Opening

  • Verify that the structural or wood deck posts are level and plumb to the deck surface once they have been secured in place. Slide the vinyl post skirt and sleeve from Durables over the post so that it rests on the decking.
  • To determine the precise gap between the two deck posts, use a tape measure. Subtract 1/4 inch from either end of the vinyl rails to make room for the brackets that hold the deck railing. To guarantee uniform baluster spacing, if the rails need to be shorter, make sure to take the same amount off of either end.

Step 3: Cut The Vinyl Rails To Length

  • Verify that the picket apertures line up and mark the top and bottom rails to be the same length. Cut the vinyl and metal rails simultaneously with a fine-tooth miter saw blade for a precise cut.

Step 4: Attach The Foot Block

  • Install a foot block if the railing section is six feet broad or longer. Place the foot block in the center of the bottom deck rail and fasten it using the 1 inch long screw that is included while the foot block is compressed. The foot block must be centered in the baluster opening if the bottom rail's center is close to it.
  • Using the installation screw that is included, fasten the foot block mounting plate to the decking at the intersection of the two deck posts.

Step 5: Prep The Bottom Rail

  • In accordance with your local building regulations, determine the distance between the decking floor and the bottom rail's edge. In the US, this height is typically roughly 2 inches, however it can be adjusted based on the building requirements in your neighborhood.
  • Set the bottom deck rail on two extra pieces of wood that have been cut to 2 inches, which should be placed on the ground.
  • On the ends of the bottom deck rail, gently slide the black mounting brackets from the Durables deck railing brackets. The provided 1-1/2 inch long screws should be used to secure the mounting brackets in the center on the corresponding posts. On either side of the mounting bracket, tighten two screws.
  • Utilizing the 1 inch installation screws that are included, attach the vinyl deck rail to the mounting bracket. Drive two screws into the vinyl rail, one on each side.

Step 6: Finish Installing The Foot Block

  • Pull the foot block all the way down once the bottom rail is in place. Place the screw cover over the screw after inserting the installation screw through the foot block's side.

Step 7: Insert The Deck Balusters & Add Top Rail

  • The vinyl deck balusters should be fully inserted and pushed downward into the bottom rail's routed-out holes.
  • Place the pickets into each matching opening while lowering the top rail into position, aligning it over the open ends of the inserted balusters.
  • Loosely slide the black mounting brackets on the ends of the vinyl rail before attaching all of the balusters to the top rail. Install all of the balusters into the vinyl top rail, then center and fasten the black mounting brackets to the deck posts using the 1-1/2 inch deck screws that are included. On either side of the rail, tighten two screws.
  • Using the 1 inch installation screws that are included, secure the top rail to the mounting brackets. Drive two into the rail, one on each side.

Step 8: Add Finishing Touches

  • Gently slide and snap the bracket covers over the attached black mounting brackets, starting with the smallest component.
  • To finish off the look of your Durables Vinyl Railing system, attach and position your preferred vinyl post cap design!
