2 Easy Methods To Install Quartz Countertops

Method 1: Cutting

  1. Measurement: The user needs to begin with the measurement of the cabinet and purchase the Quartz accordingly. For the exact dimensions of the countertop use the measurement tape. However here the user needs to make sure to account for the sink opening space while ordering pre-cut quartz so that it comes with a space for the sink as well.
  2. Choose Quartz: Choose the quartz that has the unpolished edges as this will help to ensure that there are seams between the slabs.
  3. Remove The Quartz: Before going for the installation process it is advisable to dry the fit quartz once it's delivered, this will help to make sure that it fits the area properly without creating the big gaps.
  4. Mark CutLines: Now in this step the user needs to mark the quartz on bottom and top so that it shapes to the countertop. Even in the case of the pre-cutted quartz, some adjustments are needed. If some part of the quartz needs to be cut then mark with straight with the pencil. There should be only 4 lines top, bottom and side 2 lines.
  5. Attach Blade And Cutting: In order to cut the quartz the user needs to attach the diamond masonry blade to the cutting tool like a power saw, the blade should be designed for quartz. Then start cutting along the marked lines. While cutting the user needs to make sure that the teeth of the blade are opposite to the quartz.

Method 2: Installing The Quartz

  1. Kitchen Sink: First its important to install the kitchen if needed. If the sink is removed while removing old quartz so it should be reinstalled before adding new raw material. Carefully attach the sink pipes to the drainpipe.
  2. Painter's Tape: In order to protect the top edge of the cabinet use the painters tape on the edges. It is advisable to cover 1 inch or more top edge of the cabinet.
  3. Ledgers: Now install the ledgers for the low area cabinet support. An electric drill is very useful in attaching the ledgers.
  4. Silicone Adhesive Beads: In this step the user needs to apply the silicone adhesive beads on the top of the cabinets. At the corners apply at least 2 to 3-inch thick bead of the silicone adhesive and then carefully work along the top of the cabinet. It is highly advisable to install the quartz around the sink.
  5. Remove The Painter's Tape: After applying the Silicone Adhesive the user should remove the painter's tape before silicon dries.
  6. Install Quartz Slabs: In this step the user needs to lower each slab of the quartz on the right spot over the silicon beads. Here one important thing is to keep in mind that install the slabs while the silicon is wet. In order to make sure that the cabinet adhere to slab strongly, then press it gently.
  7. Sealing The Joints: In case of any joints between the slab seal them. A proper dry-fitting can avoid this step.
