3 Easy Parts & Items Needed To Install The Outdoor Carpet On Concrete Patio

The users can easily install the outdoor carpet on the concrete patio by following the below-described parts with steps but before that, you need to collect certain item required for the process:

Items Required

  • Floor Scraper
  • Mop & Shop vacuum
  • 5-Gallon Bucket & Liquid Detergent
  • Measuring Tape & Utility Knife
  • Chalk Line & Metal Straightedge
  • Carpet Adhesive
  • Flooring Roller
  • Notched Trowel

Part I- Preparing The Floor

  • Step 1: The users need to start by loosening all the deposits or any other kind of build-up over the surface of the concrete floor by using the scraper or by using the square shovels. Then clean up all the dust and the debris particles from the surface of the floor by using the vacuum.
  • Step 2: Then make up the mixture by mixing the liquid detergent and the warm water in the bucket and then stir the mixture so that the soap is completely dissolved in the water. Then soak the mop in the mixture and then rub it over the entire floor surface so as to make sure that the floor is free from the dirt and dust.
  • Step 3: Once the floor is free from all the dirt the users then need to let the concrete floor to get dried off completely. Then they need to calculate the size dimensions of the floor and then multiply the calculated size dimensions so as to determine the actual square footage of the carpet.

Part II- Sizing And Installing

  • Step 1: The users then need to determine the carpet direction from which the carpet can install its full thickness to the wall and in doing so the users need to measure the carpet from its roll end. Then they need to lay the carpet roll over the surface of the floor adjacent to that specified wall by placing the carpet end to that specified room edge.
  • Step 2: Then they need to set the carpet end to the bottom of that specified wall and then unroll the whole carpet to the floor. Then the users need to line up the carpet edges uniformly to the wall base of the opposite side so as to make sure that it is squared over the floor and they need to mark down the carpet edges at that point where it is aligned with the opposite wall base accordingly.
  • Step 3: The users then need to lift the unrolled carpet away and then markdown the chalk line in between those marks and then they need to use the straightedge of the metal as the guiding tool in order to trim down the carpet at that specified line by using the utility knife.
  • Step 4: The users need to repeat the same procedure while trimming down the rest of the carpet pieces and then fit them in the specified place by adjoining their edges respectively.

Part III-Installing The Carpet

  • Step 1: Then users need to apply the adhesive over the entire surface of the floor by using the notched trowel and to do so the users need to start from one corner of the floor. Then let the adhesive get dried off on touching.
  • Step 2: Then they need to lay the carpet rolls at one corner of the wall and apply gentle pressure over it so that it gets fixed down with the concrete floor. Once the users affixed all the carpet pieces with the floor then they need to use the roller and move it over the entire carpet surface in order to get rid of all the wrinkles accordingly.
