Steps To Install Laminate Wood Flooring On Wood Subfloor
The tools and material required to install laminate wood flooring include table saw, pull bar, rubber mallet, tape measure, jigsaw, laminate flooring, tapping bar, compass, spacers, etc. The steps are mentioned below for the installation process of laminate wood flooring on wood subfloor:
- Remove Tongue: The first step is to look at the planks and for the installation of first, remove tongue from the long side joints of the planks by using a table saw.
- Trace And Cut: For rough walls, the outline is detected by means of compass and the planks are cut with the help of jigsaw.
- Assemble First Row: Now start assembling the first row and place the tongue side away from the wall. The planks should be arranged in a line and joints should be kept close.
- Provide Space For Expansion: Wood spacers of 3/8” are used for providing the expansion space.
- Cut For New Rows: Now the next step is to cut the planks for a new row using a table saw.
- Assemble Second Row: Assemble the planks in the second row by fixing them into the grooves of the plank in the first row and rotate down planks until joints lock. Then take next plank and join the short side of the plank with the previous plank in row second
- Check For Gap: When the joints are closed properly then take a measuring tape and measure the gap from the wall that is allowed for expansion.
- Install Last Row: Now the customer needs to install the last row. Detect the outline of the wall and cut the planks according to the size then place the long side of the plank in the grove. Use a rubber mallet and pull bar for tapping the joints. When all the planks are joined completely remove the spacers.
- Apply Sealant: The last step is to apply the flexible silicone sealant around the entire boundary of the floor so that the water does not get into it.
