How To Install Laminate Plank Flooring: Steps To Install Hardwood Laminate



General Overview

Laminate flooring not only offers stunning beauty but also comes with the easy installation process. Since the flooring comes in planks they just need to be installed using the tongue-and-groove system and does not need gluing. It must be taken into the account that some of the laminate floorings need underlayment first before installation. If in case the flooring comes with the pre-attached underlayment then this step needs to be eliminated.

Steps To Install The Hardwood Laminate Flooring

Stepwise method to install hardwood laminate flooring are mentioned below:
  1. Tongue Removal: The tongue in the right direction needs to be removed prior to the installation of the laminate flooring.
  2. Cutting And Tracing: The tracing and cutting are required for the walls that are uneven.
  3. Assembling: Install the plank for the first row by inserting the end tongue into the end groove.
  4. Rotate: Rotate the planks downwards for assembling. Ensure to keep wood planks aligned and placed.
  5. Expansion Space: Make sure to provide the 3/8” space from all sides for expanding with the help of the wood spacers.
  6. New Rows: Approximately about 8” long piece needs to be cut to assemble the new row.
  7. Second Row: The tongue of the second-row plank needs to be inserted into the first-row plank.
  8. Gap Checking: Use a measuring tape to check the gap of 3/8” for proper expansion.
  9. Last Row: The last row needs to be installed alongside tongue into the groove with the end joint aligned. Once installed perfectly remove all the wood spacers.
  10. Sealant: The floor needs to be treated with the high grade flexible 100% silicone sealant.


Easy Steps To Install Laminate Flooring To Concrete

The easy steps to install the laminate on the concrete floor are mentioned below:
1.Baseboard Removal: The first step is to remove the baseboard with the help of the right tools. Make sure do not break the baseboards.
2.Level Checking: Check the level of the concrete floor using the long level. The unleveled places need to be marked in order to level them.
3.Concrete Grinder: The high spots on the concretes needs to be leveled.
4.Low Area Filling: All the low-level on concrete needs to be filled using the leveling compound. For application add this compound into the bucket and apply it using the trowel. Let the compound dry completely and recheck the leveling again.
5.Vapor Barrier: The vapor barriers needs to be laid down exactly as per the instructions labeled on the product.

Installation

Follow the steps below for proper installation:
1.Place: Take the laminate flooring and place it on the area where it needs to be installed and let it be there for three days prior to installation.
2.Table Saw: The tongue of the flooring that needs to be installed in a first row needs to be cut using the table saw and install it keeping tongue side to the wall side. Don't forget to keep the gap for the expansion.
3.Install Other Pieces: The other pieces of laminate flooring needs to be installed by inserting the tongue into the groove using angle direction. Keep doing until the last row is completed.
4.Last Row: The distance between the last row and last laminate piece needs to be measured and cut the last piece accordingly using the table saw.
5.Strips And Molds: The strips and moldings need to be installed. Finally, re-installation of the baseboards are required.
