Step By Step Procedure And Materials Required For Installing Drawer Slides On Old Drawer

Usually, there are different types of slides available in the market and the users can easily purchase any drawer slides as per their requirements. The drawer slides are very easy to get installed only if the users use the right tools and the right techniques. Materials Required

  • Drill/Driver, Ruler Or Straightedge
  • Pencil, Tape Measure, Slide Set

Procedure

  • Mark Down The Slide Placement: Start by calculating the measurements within the inner cabinet floor and then mark down the height of the eight and a half inches near to the back and the front side of the wall. The users need to use the marks and the straightedge, then make the leveled line all across the surface of the wall on each inner cabinet wall. They need to draw the mark on each one of the lines that are seven by eight-inch within the frontmost cabinet corner. By this, the users can let the space for the drawer thickness front plus a one by eight-inch inset.
  • Place The Slides: The users need to position the base corner of the initial slide over the line. Then they need to place the front-most slide edge at the back of the mark near to the cabinet face.
  • Installing The Slides: After that, gently hold up the slide in its place and then push forward the extension until both the screw hole set will be visible. Use the drill/driver & then drill down the pilot holes on the hole of the screw near to the slide back and front. Use the screws to affix the slide within the inner side of the cabinet. The users need to repeat the second and the third step to affix the slides of the drawer on another cabinet side.
  • Mark Down The Slides: The users need to use the measuring tape to mark down the central height of the drawer box to its exterior sides of the wall. Then they need to use the straightedge to mark down the flat line on the outer side of the drawer box.
  • Place The Slide Extension: Now detach the removable portion of the slides and then position it over the similar slide of the drawer. Then align the drawer slides in a way that it will be centered on their similar line and then make it even to the drawer box face.
  • Affix The Slides: The users need to use the drill/driver and screws that come along with the slides so as to affix the slide on the surface of the drawer.
  • Inserting The Drawer: They need to hold up the level of the drawer to the cabinet front and then place the slide ends affixed with the drawers within the inner cabinet tracks. They need to press likely each drawer side and then drift down the slide to its place.
  • Positioning The Drawer Face: The users need to apply the wood glue on the drawer box face. Bind up the drawer and then align the face of the drawer with the coordinated gaps along the side and top corners. They need to use the clamps so as to secure the face of the drawer adjacent to the box of drawers.
  • Affix The Drawer Face: The users need to gently unbind the drawer and then drive the one inch sized screw within the holes in the box of the drawer and within the drawer face backside so as to fasten it accordingly in its place.
