Steps To Install Bamboo Flooring With Glue
The tools required for installing bamboo flooring with glue includes a tape measure, paint thinner, pencil, and urethane adhesive. The steps are given below for the installation:
- Cut The Planks To Size: The first step is to detect and cut the bamboo planks according to the size of the room. Keep in mind that these planks should be at least 8' long.
- Prepare The Room: Take away all the belongings from the room and empty the room so that bamboo flooring can be installed without any disturbance.
- Purchase Adhesive: Choose the right adhesive which is suitable for the bamboo flooring. Urethane adhesive for wood floor is considered as a better option. Check the label of the glue to know about the cure time.
- Clean Subfloor: The old adhesive should be removed completely from the subfloor. For this paint thinner or dish soap can be used to remove the residue from the subfloor surface.
- Pick A Starting Place: The customer can start from the rooms top corner, from the longest wall, or from the middle of the room.
- Start Spreading The Glue: Take a trowel and start spreading the adhesive on the areas where the customer can install the bamboo floors within 30 minutes. Then apply glue on the entire subfloor.
- Lay First Row: Now place the first row of bamboo planks on the floor surface and leave a gap between the wall and the planks for expansion by using wood spacers. Tap the boards together so that boards fit with each other comfortably.
- Lay Subsequent Rows: When the first row remains correctly on the floor surface then install subsequent rows of bamboo planks until the customer reaches at the end of the glued section. At the final row, the planks need to be cut to fit in the space.
- Install The Moldings: When entire floor is glued down then take away the spacers and start to install moldings on the gaps and leave it for a night to set into the gaps.
- Clean Room And Relax: Last step is to clean the room and remove the dust from the floor surface created during the installation. Keep the room empty for about a day and enjoy the bamboo flooring in the room.
