How To Hang Roman Shades: Easiest Method Of Installing Roman Shades

Easiest Method Of Installing The Roman Shades

The Roman shades are actually made from one single piece of fabric. They can be raised as well as lowered vertically, and once they are raised, it elegantly folds itself. You can install or hang roman shades by following the steps mentioned below:
  1. Interior Mount: If there is a sturdy and well square window frames then choose an interior mount. It involves hanging the roman shades inside the window frame. This is a good idea if the window frames are deeper than 3 to 4 inches.
  2. Level: Before mounting the brackets check if the window frame is properly leveled. Use a level to check whether or not the frame is properly even. Hold up the level against the ceiling of the frame and it is important to make sure that the small bubble is in the middle of the marked section which is on the tool.
  3. Shim The Frame: If the window frame is at level then insert a couple of small shims to even it out. Simply use a hammer to pry off the molding from all around the edges of the frame. Then, keep the tapered end of a shim between the frame and the wall right on the lower end of the frame then tap the shim in by at least 1/2 inches to raise that side of the frame and then use a level again.
  4. Measurement: After the above steps are done then the user needs to measure shade's headrail that is the long top metal piece on the shade. Measuring down the headrail will help to find the exact location where the brackets will be mounted which will hold up the headrail. Use the measuring tape to find out the width of the interior of the window frames.
  5. Mark The 2 Bracket Locations: Extend the measurement tape to the length of the headrail, and then hold it up inside the window frame, on the frame's ceiling. Lightly mark down the endpoints of the headrail with a pencil. After this, measure in the 3 inches on both sides of the headrail's endpoints. These spots will indicate where to hang the 2 brackets.
  6. Screw Locations: Take 1 of the C-shaped metal brackets and then keep it in place right on top of the pencil marked spots. The bracket must have 2 screw holes. Use the pencil to mark a small X in each of the holes. Use these markings to insert the screws which will hold the brackets in place. Then, repeat the same process, on the second bracket location that is marked earlier.
  7. Drill Pilot Holes: Insert a 1/8 inches drill bit into the electric drill. Drill a pilot hole in each of the marked locations. Drill each of the pilot hole 1 inch deep.
  8. Screw The Brackets: Place each of the bracket on the marked locations. Line up the brackets on the pilot holes in the window frame and then screw down the brackets using a screwdriver to screw them in place.
  9. Slide The Shades: The roman shades are outfitted with the help of twin brackets that fit into place with the brackets that are on the wall. To install the shades, simply slide the top of the shades in the forward direction until the 2 brackets click into place. The headrail must be centered over the window.
  10. Secure The Shade: Lift up the Roman shade in a way so that the user is looking beneath it at the right bottom of the brackets. Take 2 inches head screws that often came with the roman shade kit and then thread them into the visible hole that is on each of the 2 brackets. Use the screwdriver again in order to tighten the head screw firmly in the headrail.
