How To Hang Bamboo Blinds: Steps And Items Needed

General Overview

The outdoor bamboo blinds will provide you the shade and privacy on the balcony but still allow some light through. Most types of bamboo blinds feature thin slats of bamboo which is strung together diagonally. Your bamboo blinds roll up with the help of a simple string mechanism and they also feature only 2-3 simple mounting brackets but this will depend on the length of your blind, so you can easily hang them on your balcony that has an overhead cover or any other type of balcony precisely above it. Bamboo blinds will not work on your open-air balconies since there is no upward framework on which to mount them.

Steps And Items Needed To Hang Bamboo Blinds

If you want to hang your bamboo blinds by yourself then you just need to collect all the required items and follow all the given steps. Here is the list of required items and steps for this process:

Things You Will Need

  • Measuring Tape
  • Pencil
  • Drill
  • Mounting Hooks
  • Cord Bracket
  • Screw

Steps To Hang Your Bamboo Blinds Easily

After collecting all the required items, now you need to follow all the given steps for this process:
  1. First of all, you need to measure the length of the balcony overhang along the side you want to hang your bamboo blinds. You need to purchase the blinds slenderly shorter than the overhang to get the full coverage. You may also need to purchase the multiple blinds for the long balconies.
  2. Next you need to hold your mounting bar against your balcony overhang and then you need to adjust the mounting bar until it's level properly and the screw holes in your brackets are approximately one inch above from the bottom edge of your overhang. Also, mark the screw hole locations gently with the help of a pencil and then set your bamboo blinds aside.
  3. Then you need to drill a shallow starter hole in every screw hole by using a drill bit smaller(one size) than the mounting hooks which are included with your bamboo blinds. Screw all the mounting hooks into your overhang by your hand.
  4. After following all the previous steps, now you need to hang your bamboo blind brackets on the installed hooks. Pull the cord on your blinds to roll it up flush to the overhang top.
  5. Your final step is to place your cord bracket on your balcony wall on the side of your bamboo blind with the cord. You need to remember that set your bracket low enough so anyone can reach easily. Screw the bracket to the wall before wrapping the cord around the bracket when your bamboo blinds are open so it will not tangle or drag on your ground and now your work is finished properly.

Tips & Warning

  1. Tip 1: If you don't want to screw holes in your balcony then you can also use the adhesive hooks specially made for outdoor use. Bamboo blinds normally use a simple loop bracket so you can easily place over any type of hook.
  2. Tip 2: High winds pressure can easily blow your bamboo blinds down on your balcony. Keep your bamboo blinds rolled up during bad weather so they will now blow in the breeze.
  3. Warning: You need to make sure that your cords are secured out of the reach of your children.
