How To Hang A Dartboard On Drywall: Hanging A Dartboard Using Wall Studs, Anchors & Toggle

Hanging A Dartboard Using Wall Studs

If you are planning to hang a dartboard on drywall, one of the easiest ways is to mount the board to a wall stud. The stud brings forth adequate support for the dartboard's weight. A board can weigh nearly 10 pounds or more, sufficient enough in order to tear away the mounting screws out of drywall if in case the board is hung from drywall without wall anchors. Follow the easy steps mentioned below carefully to hang a dartboard on drywall using wall studs:
  • First of all, discover the exact place or position of a stud in the selected play area, with the help of a stud finder.
  • The next step is to calculate the wall through the stud 68 inches up from the floor. Mark this spot, because this is where the underside cup area of the mounting bracket belongs. Take hold of the bracket in this spot, open-side up, to make sure that the dartboard can slide into place.
  • Next, with the help of a pencil, mark positions for the pilot holes between the holes in the bracket.
  • Now, pull out the bracket and drill shallow pilot holes at the locations earlier marked. Use a bit having a small width in relation to length than the screws included in the bracket set.
  • Shift or dislocate the mounting bracket so that the holes in the bracket line up with the holes in the wall.
  • Insert as well as tighten the screws included with the mounting hardware.

Hanging A Dartboard Using Wall Anchors And Toggle Bolts

If hanging the dartboard from a stud is not successful, then another option is to use high-performance wall anchors or toggle bolts. Hollow metal or plastic wall anchors are perfect when it comes to hanging a dartboard on drywall, toggle bolts are also perfect to be used. For plaster walls, toggle bolts are important to bring forth sufficient holding power. In both cases, make sure that the anchors or bolts are evaluated in order to grasp more than the weight of the dartboard. If you are going to hang a dartboard cabinet, then you have to use one anchor near each corner. The cabinet should already have mounting holes in the proper positions.
  • Firstly, drill a hole in the wall just wide enough to place, fit, or push each wall anchor or the folded "wings" of the toggle bolts. Go through the package instructions for the perfect drill bit size.
  • Now, push or hammer each anchor into the hole in such a way that the opening for the screw is facing towards you. This step is not needed if you are dealing with a toggle bolt & proceed to the next step.
  • Place, fit, or push each screw along its specific hole on the dartboard mounting bracket. For a toggle bolt, remove the "wings" off it first, before adding them back on, after the bolt has been pushed along its specific hole on the bracket. The wings and bolt should set up an arrow shape, indicating toward the wall and away from the bracket.
  • Push each screw into an anchor, securing it with the help of a screwdriver. For a toggle bolt, insert the "wings" through the wall. They should open as well as spread behind the wall. Secure the bolt with the help of a screwdriver while applying pressure in order to take hold of the wings against the backside of the wall.
  • Finally, move the dartboard or cabinet into position smoothly on the wall brackets. This can be done by holding the dartboard near the wall, to a small degree above the mounting bracket, before sliding the board downward into place.
