How To Hang A Curtain Rod On Cinder Block Walls: Proper Procedure Of Hanging Curtain Rod On Cinder Block Wall

Proper Procedure Of Hanging A Curtain Rod On Cinder Block Walls

Cinder blocks are mostly used in basements as well as garages. It is possible to hang a curtain rod on cinder block walls with the help of nails or screws. However, the nails or screws that you will get along with curtain rods are not suitable to be used on cinder block walls, due to the reason that they will bend, crack or pull and extract from the cinder blocks. Hollow wall anchors are another issue when hanging a curtain rod, due to the fact that the locations needed for the screws may either be solid or hollow. But, there is no need to worry as screws are available in order to hang curtain rods that will not bend, crack or pull and extract from cinder blocks, no matter if the location in the block is solid or hollow. Follow the below-mentioned easy & simple steps to hang a curtain rod on cinder block walls:
  1. Hold The Curtain Rod: Firstly, take hold of the curtain rod in the desired location. With the help of a pencil or marker, make a visible impression on the location for one screw hole on the curtain rod's one side. Choose the suitable size masonry drill bit that is totally dependent on the size of masonry screws selected. The size of the drill bit that is needed for the pilot hole is specified on the package for the concrete screws.
  2. Wear Safety Glasses: Now, you need to wear safety glasses or goggles. Attach the masonry bit in the drill, before drilling a hole at the location that is marked on the cinder block wall for the curtain hardware.
  3. Remove The Dust: Next, remove the dust from the hole by arranging a straw in a straight line with the hole and blowing smoothly through the straw. The dust can function as a powder lubricant that minimizes the effectiveness of the concrete screw. Push a long finishing nail along the hardware and into the hole in order to make sure that the hardware hangs loosely on the finishing nail.
  4. Level The Curtain Rod: Position the curtain rod on one side of the window. Place the hardware for the opposite side of the opening & at the same time take hold of a level on the top of the curtain rod. With the help of a pencil or marker, make a visible impression on the locations for all of the screw holes in the hardware. Then, take out the curtain rod and level.
  5. Attach Curtain Rod Hardware To The Wall: Exchange the masonry bit in the drill for a screwdriver bit. Secure & fix the curtain rod hardware to the wall by positioning a concrete screw along with the hardware and into the hole, and with the help of the drill, secure the screw. Position the curtain rod back on the hardware.
  6. Hang A Curtain Rod: Take hold of the curtain rod hardware that is hanging indistinctly on the nail gently against the cinder block wall. Mark the locations for the rest of the screw holes with the help of a pencil or marker. Take out the curtain rod, hardware, as well finishing nail. Drill the holes at the location that is marked for the hardware, and then remove the dust from the holes using a straw. Put the hardware back in place and attach it with masonry screws. Finally, it is time to hang or install the curtain rod on the hardware.
