- Murphy’s Oil Soap.
- Soft cleaning Sponge.
- Vinegar And Water.
- Spray bottle.
- Citrus-based wood cleaner.
- Clean soft cloths.
Step 1: Absorb The Odor
- Sprinkle: The first step for removing the smoke smell from furniture is to sprinkle atleast 2-3 pinch of the baking soda on the corners of the furniture and let the baking soda sit on furniture just to test if the baking soda is harming the furniture or not.
- Absorb: Start covering all the area with baking soda and let the baking soda to absorb the odor from the furniture for maximum up to 6-8 hours.
- Vacuum Cleaner: Use brush with a vacuum cleaner. Attach a brush to vacuum cleaner nozzle. Now start vacuuming the sprinkled baking soda on furniture with the vacuum brush.
- Wait: Removing out smoke smell process will take at least 7 days maximum. After 7 days again vacuum the inside area of the furniture.
Step 2: Scrub The Surface
- Mix: Now the user needs to mix 50 % of water and 50% of vinegar and put the mixture in a squirt bottle.
- Apply: Take Murphy’s oil soap and water in a small bucket and mix them well. Dip a soft cleaning sponge in the mixture and make the sponge fully wet.
- Rub: Rub the affected area with wet soft cleaning sponge. It needs to be rubbed in circular motion in order to save the wood and finish from getting harmed.
- Air Dry: Now let the furniture dry inside in the home with fan air. Also leave the windows open to get extra air from outside. The process of drying the furniture will take up to 9-10 hours.
- Avoid Sunlight: Always remember not to leave the furniture directly in sunlight because at this stage the wood will start warping.
Step 3: Apply Citrus Cleaner
- Remove: If any type of shelves or drawers are present there then remove them carefully with screw driver and keep the handles and screws at safe place to restore it later.
- Cleaner: Pour a little amount of the citrus-based cleaner on a clean soft cloth. The citrus clean will help to remove the remaining residue on the furniture.
- Rub: Rub the citrus cleaner on furniture or on shelves or drawers. Rub the area for maximum up to 3-4 minutes.
- Dry: After cleaning let the furniture dry inside in a home. It will take up-to 15-20 hours to dry completely.
Tips & Warning
- Tip: Check the furniture if the baking soda damaged the furniture then the charcoal crumbles and coffee grounds are also used to absorb odor from the furniture.
- Warning: The results will not come in the same day sometimes the steps may need to repeat for 2-3 times because of hard odor. So the user has to wait for the best results.
