How To Get Scratches Out Of Hardwood & Laminate Floors Without Sanding?

Staining Marker

  1. Wipe: Begin with wiping the area with a dampened rag in the water, this will remove any excess dirt and debris because there should be no dust or debris on the scratches.
  2. Spot Test: Before going further it is important to do a spot test, simply test the marker on an inconspicuous area to see how well it matches the finish if it matches then continue with the process.
  3. Apply: Now apply the marker to the affected area, carefully run the tip of the marker to the scratch.
  4. Rub The Stain: Now Rub the stain into the affected area, simply press the rag that should be dipped in the mineral spirit.

Fixing Superficial Scratches

  1. Clean: First of all clean the Scratched area, use microfiber cloth and a hardwood floor cleaner to clean the affected area. Cleaning is very important because the dust particles can get preserved in the floor while sealing the floor.

  4. Wipe The Excess Filler: Once the filler is dried then using a putty knife to smooth the surface, simply drag the knife over the filler.
  5. Sand: Now Sand excess filling and around the scratch with a fine sandpaper like 220 to 300 grit. Sand in the directions of the wood grains.
  6. Seal: At last seal the patched area with the thin layer of the sealer like polyurethane, varnish, or sealer. Allow it to dry completely.
