Bamboo Floors are prone to scratches similar to other natural fibers that are used to cover the floors. There are two types of scratches that can occur on to the bamboo flooring mentioned below:

Shallow/Small Scratches

The steps to get shallow scratches out of bamboo floors are as follows:
  1. Clean The Scratched Floor:
First, the user needs to wash the scratched floor using a mild cleaner specially designed for bamboo flooring. After washing, the user needs to dry the floor using a clean dry cloth.
  2. Sand The Scratches:
After that, the user needs to lightly sand the scratched areas of the floor by using fine-grain sandpaper.
  3. Use Stain Pen Or A Wax Crayon:
The next step will be to match the color of the sanded area with the rest of the bamboo flooring by using a matching Wax Crayon or a wood stain pen. The excess wax flakes should be wiped away from the floor.
  4. Apply Polyurethane:
The last step will be to cover the repaired area with a light coat of polyurethane.

Deep Scratches Or Gouges

Deep scratches or gouges on the bamboo floors can be repaired by following the below-given steps:
  1. Preparation:
Before starting the repair process, the user needs to wash the scratches and gouges by using warm water and a mild cleaner specially designed for bamboo flooring. Once the floor is washed, the user needs to dry it with a lint-free cloth. Also, the user needs to buy wood filler that should match the natural color of bamboo flooring. The wood filler should be specifically designed to be used on bamboo flooring.
  2. Sand The Area:
The next step will be to sand the deep scratched area by using fine-grit sandpaper. It has been recommended to sand over the edges of the gouges and scratches rather than sanding over the edges of the floor in order to prevent the other parts of the floor from getting damaged.
  3. Fill Gouges & Deep Scratches:
After sanding, the user needs to fill in the gouges and less deep scratches with wood filler by using a putty knife. It has been recommended to level the top of the gauge and flooring by using a putty knife and excess filler should be removed from the surrounding area using a soft cloth. Once the filler dries inside the gauge or scratch, the user needs to lightly sand it by using 500-grit or above sandpaper.
  4. Apply Wood Stain:
In case, the repaired area looks noticeable on the bamboo flooring due to its lighter color, the user needs to apply a light coat of wood stain over the area that should match with the flooring color. The wood stain takes around 24 hours to dry completely.
  5. Apply Sealer:
Once the floor area is completely dry, the user needs to apply a coat of polyurethane sealant over the repaired area that protects the bamboo floor from future damages. The user can let the first coat of sealer dry overnight before applying a second coat over it.
