Furniture is very helpful when it comes to using it at our homes, offices or any other place. We can use furniture to sit, read books and to eat our meals, however they can easily be affected by stains and then you have to refinish them, and for refinishing process you may also need to varnish it, but sometimes the smell of varnish will remain in your furniture and this will also happen with your new furniture but unfortunately this is not good for your health, in order to remove the smell of varnish from your furniture then you need to follow the given steps carefully and achieve better results of varnish removal:
  • Step 1: First you need to set your new furniture inside a covered area such as a garage for a few days because it will release any "off-gassing" from inside.
  • Step 2: Open windows as well as doors of your home if you don't have a garage or other covered area to temporarily air out the newly installed furniture. You can also run oscillating or ceiling fans to help hasten the removal of the smell.
  • Step 3: Fill some small bowls with baking soda and keep them near your new furniture with the varnish smell. This is an old-fashioned remedy but still an effective one to remove the offensive smell from refrigerators and other areas. The baking soda will help in absorbing the smell easily and neutralizes the air. Leave the bowls out for 2 or 3 days to get the best results.
  • Step 4: You can also set some bowls of white distilled vinegar in the room or near to your new furniture. Vinegar will absorb foul smell which helps to leave the room smelling fresh. Leave these bowls for overnight or longer to give it time to get rid of your room of the smell. The vinegar smell evaporates within 30 minutes of removing the bowls.
  • Step 5: Place 2 or 3 containers of activated charcoal in the area which is around to your new furniture. The charcoal powder will neutralize the smell by absorbing odors in the air. Leave the containers in the room for overnight or more longer to take good care of the odor.
