Methods To Get Glue Off Hardwood Floor

The user can go for the number of methods for removing the glue from the hardwood floor, the best of them are mentioned below;

Method 1

  1. Determine: Before starting the process of removing glue from the hardwood floor, it is very important to know what to type of glue is being used. Usually, there are two types of glue that are commonly found on hardwood floors such as tar-based glues(dark brown or black) and carpet adhesive(yellowish color)
  2. Purchase: Once the user has determined the type of the glue then purchase the correct remover. The tar-based glue will require mineral spirits and Carpet based will requires a commercial adhesive remover.
  3. Apply: Spread a thin layer of the remover on the glue and then left the remover on the glue for the prescribed time period so that it will get soaked in the affected area and loosen the hardened glue.
  4. Scrape: The next step is to scrape the glue using the flat-edged tool or putty knife. It is very important to work in the direction of the grains. If necessary apply the remover again.
  5. Dry: The last step is to let the floor dry, keep the area well ventilated, then move on the next step.

Method 2

  1. Hot Water: Under this method the first is to bring a pot with water and place it on stove for boiling.
  2. Soak Towels: After that the next step is to soak the towel in the hot water and saturate it with the water, then place the towel on the affected area and leave it for about 3 to 5 minutes, after that wipe the area with the towel.
  3. Scrape: Use the floor scrapper to gently remove the glue from the floor, the user should be very carefully while scrapping the floor.
