Two Easy Methods And Tips To Get Rid Of Chocolate Stains From The Couch

Regardless of the fabric or the material the couch is made from, cleaning the chocolate completely just takes a few steps. While dealing with liquid chocolate, like chocolate sauce, the sooner the user cleans the mess, the easier it will be to remove it. If your couch is affected by chocolate stain and you want to get rid of it but don't know how to do it, then simply go through the two below mentioned methods & your problem will be solved:

Method # 1

  1. Scrape The Chocolate Spot: In the first step the user needs to scrape the affected area with the edge of a butter knife or simply with a piece of the card stock, like as an index card, start scraping process right from the outside edge of the chocolate spot into inwards direction and also avoid spreading the chocolate. Hold down the edge of a piece of the paper while scrapping as this will help to push the chocolate crumbs over the paper for removal. Continue scraping job until as much as chocolate is removed.
  2. Ice Cubes In A Zippered Plastic Bag: Now after the above step is done then simply place a few ice cubes in the zippered plastic bag in case if any of the chocolate residues remains there and seems soft melted. Place the bag of the ice right over the affected spot of chocolate for about 10 minutes or until all the chocolate hardens. Remove the ice bag and then repeat step 1 of scrapping away all the hardened chocolate residue.
  3. Mild Liquid Dish Soap: Take a mild liquid dish soap and squirt of it drop onto a damp sponge. After that blot the affected chocolate stain spot using the sponge, start rubbing the area from the outside edge to the inward direction as this will help to lift away the chocolate. Continue the job until all residue is removed from the spot as possible.
  4. Wipe The Spot: In this step the user needs to rinse the sponge well and then wipe the affected area again to remove any of the remaining soap. Pat dry the area with the help of a towel.

Method # 2

  1. With the help of a scraping tool, carefully start to scrape any of the remaining chocolate pieces of the flakes off from the couch. It is advisable to avoid scrubbing, as this can help to rub any of the remaining pieces into the fabric.
  2. Wash the affected area using a soapy cloth which has been dipped in the hot water. The affected area must start to gradually lighten. Pat the affected area dry with the help of a dry towel.
  3. If in case the chocolate still remains then sprinkle cornmeal over the chocolate to cover the spot. Leave it to sit for about 30 minutes or more as this will help to absorb any greasy residue left from the chocolate. Finally, wipe the area with a dry towel.

Important Tips

  • If in case the hot chocolate is the culprit, then try to blot up as much as possible using a dry white towel or the paper towels before heading to the cleaning process. The dairy products that are in the hot chocolate can cause a sour smell if it is not completely cleaned from the fabric.
  • If the user is dealing with a chocolate sauce, that time again blot up as much of the sauce as possible with the help of paper towels. Dab directly on the affected spot of chocolate rather than wiping it, which can easily spread the spill.
