How To Get Bubbles Out Of Vinyl Flooring: Ways To Fix Small & Large Bubbles

Ways To Get Bubbles Out Of Vinyl Flooring

Air bubbles are very common among Vinyl Flooring. There is no certain time for air bubbles to occur on vinyl flooring as sometimes they can occur right away and sometimes after years. In order to get air bubbles out of vinyl flooring, the user needs to follow below-given ways.

Small Bubbles Repair

The user can repair the small bubbles up to 1 inch in size by following the below-given Steps:
  1. Puncture The Bubble:
The first step will be to puncture the bubble in the middle with a sharp needle. The user needs to press the needle completely through the vinyl flooring in order to provide an escape route for trapped air. Once the tiny hole occurs, the user needs to remove needle so that air can come out.
  2. Iron The Bubble Over A Cloth:
The next step after that will be to place a fabric cloth over the bubble that should be larger than the iron. The needle hole must be in the middle of the cloth and user needs to press warm iron over the bubble until the bubble flattens.
  3. Place Heavy Objects Over The Bubble:
The last step will be to place heavy objects such as books over the bubbled area for about 24 hours that will help the vinyl flooring to harden in a flat position.

Large Bubbles Repair

In order to repair bubbles that are more than 1 inch in size, the user needs to follow the below-given steps:
  1. Iron The Bubble Over A Cloth:
The first step in this repair will be to place a cloth over the bubble and then place an iron on top of it in order to flatten the vinyl flooring slightly. The user can increase the heat of the iron if required during the step and once done, he needs to place cloth and iron aside.
  2. Make Cut Over The Bubble:
After that, the user needs to make a cut over the bubble with a sharp utility knife. The cut should be as per the length of the bubble and in case, the bubble is wide as well, the user needs to make another cut in the opposite direction of the first cut bisecting at the middle.
  3. Apply Adhesive:
The next step after that will be to apply adhesive to the underside of the cut with the help of a utility knife or the other tool. Once the adhesive is applied, the user needs to press the vinyl flooring back to its place and smoothen it with hands.
  4. Place Wax Paper & Heavy Objects Over The Repair:
The last step will be to wipe away excess adhesive coming out of the cut with a sponge and follow that up by placing wax paper over the cut marks. Once the cut marks are covered with the wax paper, the user needs to place heavy objects like books over the repaired area for about 24 hours until the adhesive dries.
