Way I- Using The Iron
- Gather The Material: Start by gathering the tools and the materials that are required while performing this procedure like the steam iron, damp towels, and ironing board.
- Lay The Damp Towels: The users need to lay the damp towels all around the wrapped wood. They are advised to select those towels or the rags that can easily withstand the iron heat. The users are also advised to use only a damp towel, not the dripping wet towel.
- Use The Ironing Board: Then they need to place the covered wood item over the ironing board or over the other flat surface and the elevated bubbled surface of the wood should face upwards and the concave surface should be facing downwards.
- Heat Up The Iron: Then they need to heat up the iron to its high heat setting and then turn on the iron and allow it to get heated up completely for almost 5 minutes.
- Slide The Iron: Then they need to press the heated iron over the bubbled surface of the wood and they need to apply the heat from one direction and then gently slide the iron over the entire area of the wood. - Cover Up The Wood: Then the users need to cover up the wrapped wood in the damp towels. The users need to make sure to select those towels or the rags that can easily withstand the sunlight. The users are also advised to use only a damp towel, not the dripping wet towel.
- Use The Plastic Tarp: Then they need to place the covered wood in the direct sunlight and make sure that the wood absorbs the generous amount of the sunlight. The users are advised to lay the plastic tarp under the covered wood so as to prevent the water from getting soak up and the other areas as well. The users are also advised to apply this method on a bright sunny day as this technique won't work in wet conditions.
- Unwrap The Wood: Keep on placing the wood in the direct sunlight till the wrapping vanishes away and this process may take up to few days depending upon the effect of the damage. Once the wrapping vanishes the users need to unwrap it and then let it air dry completely.
