How To Fix Recliner Pull Handle: 6 Easy Steps

6 Easy Steps To Fix Recliner Pull Handle

The user can fix the recliner pull handle self rather than calling a professional to fix it. All the user needs to do is collect a few required tools and start the repairing process. The required tools for the process are screwdriver, needle nose pliers, and a replacement handle & cable. The 6 easy steps to repair a recliner pull handle are as follows:
  1. Remove Handle:
The repair process begins by removing the handle from the recliner. First, the user needs to take off the screws from the handle that are usually two in number located at the top and bottom of the handle. The screws should be speared as the user may need them to attach a new handle. After that, the user needs to pull out the handle gently from the recliner without damaging the recliner cloth.
  2. Flip The Recliner:
The next step in the process will be to flip the recliner in a way so that its headrest and armrest should be touching the floor. Alternatively, The user can turn over the recliner in a way so that its back touches the ground. The step is required to expose the bottom end of the recliner where the cable connects the recliner.
  3. Remove Mechanism Release Clip:
After that, the user needs to check the cable end that is connected at two places to the mechanism release trigger. The mechanism release trigger consists of mechanism release clip and S-tip. The user needs to remove the S-tip first in order to release the recliner cable tension and then follow it up by removing the mechanism release clip with needle-nose pliers. After releasing both the ends, the user needs to pull the entire handle cable out from the recliner.
  4. Insert New Handle Cable:
This is a reverse step in which the user needs to insert the handle cable into the recliner by going opposite to the method of releasing the old handle cable. The user needs to fix the mechanism clip first followed by fixing the S-tip into the hole of the release trigger.
  5. Insert New Handle:
The next step will be to flip the recliner over again and let it stand in the upright position. After that, the user needs to insert the pull handle into the empty slot and screw it down with the previously speared screws.
  6. Test & Use The Recliner:
The last step will be to test the recliner by pulling its handle several times in order to be sure that the handle doesn't get stuck and the recliner is performing the desired function effectively. After completing the test, the user can put the recliner back to use.
