How To Fix Recliner Chair Springs: 7 Easy Steps Of Fixing Recliner Chair Springs

7 Easy Steps Of Fixing The Recliner Chair Spring

The working mechanism of the recliner is springs. These springs with time and use are bound to fail. If this happens, then you will just need a few minutes and the right tool to fix this problem. 7 easy steps for fixing the recliner chair spring are mentioned below:
  1. Flip The Recliner: The user does not need any special tools or parts to fix the recliner springs, all the work can be by adjustable wrench or hand. First of all turn over the recliner so that the four zig-zag springs that are connected underneath the seat will be exposed.
  2. Clamp: At the end of each spring there will be a clamp that holds as well as stretches the spring tightly. The clamps usually occur at the bottom and at the top of springs. The only difference is that the bottom clamps can be seen but the top clamp can’t be seen. This is the only difficulty. But the user can certainly feel the top clamp simply by the hand.
  3. Pull The Clamp: In order to break the clamp's grip over the spring simply pull the clamp little bit. The spring will immediately come off from the bottom side. But the spring will keep to hang up there until it is not taken off from the top clamp too.
  4. Old Spring From The Top Clamp: One of the ways to remove the old spring right from the top of the clamp is to move the spring, after it is removed from the bottom clamp in the back and forth direction. Then the user can simply lift the spring straight up and it will smoothly leave the top clamp as well.
  5. Do Not Remove The Clamps: In order to hold the new springs do not remove the clamps. The important point to remember is that there is a metal rod that is just under the chair and goes across the springs. It is there to provide additional support to all over the recliner chair. Insert the new spring in between the metal rod and the seat.
  6. Insert The New Spring: In order to insert the new spring first insert in the top clamp and then followed by the bottom. In order to secure it to the top clamp, feel the clamp by the hand and try to look for the exact spot where the clamp must be hooked to the spring.
  7. Stretch The Spring To The Bottom Hook: Once the spring is fixed to the top clamp then stretch it to the bottom hook. Using both hands simultaneously grab the spring and then try to stretch it right to the bottom clamp so the hook easily gets hold of the spring.
